There are thousands of scholarships out there. Some are large scholarships that are well publicized, while others are lesser known. My goal is to share some lesser-known scholarships with my readers every Saturday.

Here are your scholarships for Saturday, September 27, 2014

“What is College” Video Contest
Sponsor: Arizona State University
Amount: Up to $5,000 in cash AND Up to $5,000 in scholarship to be used at Arizona State University.
Deadline: September 30, 2014
Eligibility: Contestants must be residents of Arizona State attending high school OR Arizona State University. Contestants must be 13 years of age or older.
Requirements: Contestant must submit a video no longer than three (3) minutes that follows rules and requirements state on the website.

Minority Teacher Scholarship
Sponsor: Indiana Commission for Higher Education
Amount: Varies
Deadline: October 4, 2014
Eligibility: Applicant must be a minority student (defined as Black or Hispanic), is admitted or already attending an eligible Indiana institution as a full-time student, and intends to pursue or is pursing a course of study that would enable the student, upon graduation, to teach in an accredited school in Indiana. Applicant must also be an Indiana resident and an eligible U.S citizen or permanent resident and must submit the FAFSA.
Requirements: Applicant must fill out online application.

AES Engineers Scholarship
Sponsor: AES Engineers
Amount: $500
Deadline: October 6, 2014
Eligibility: Applicant must be a high school senior or a current college student. Applicants do not need to be Engineering majors to be eligible.
Requirements: Applicant must submit an essay between 500 and 1,000 words.

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship
Sponsor: Institute of International Education
Amount: $3,000 – $8,000
Deadline: October 7, 2014
Eligibility: Applicant must be a U.S. citizen who is an undergraduate student who is receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university. Scholarship is to participate in study and intern abroad programs worldwide.
Requirements: Applicant must submit online application, two essays, official transcripts and online certifications from the study abroad and financial aid advisor.

Jan Egerton and Don Smitley Mesothelioma Scholarship
Sponsor: MesotheliomaHelp.org
Amount: Up to $5,000
Deadline: October 7, 2014
Eligibility: Scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students who are 18-years-old or older and are currently enrolled in a college or university located within the 50 United States or the District of Columbia.
Requirements: Applicant must submit an essay between 750 and 1,500 words on about mesothelioma.

Tuition Won’t Stop Me Scholarship
Sponsor: Education Portal
Amount: $1,000
Deadline: October 7, 2014
Eligibility: Entrants must be aged 16 years or older and currently enrolled in or currently applying for a degree.
Requirements: Entrants must fill out a brief entry form, answer scholarship question and share response by posting it to social media.

University Language Services Photo Contest
Sponsor: University Language Services
Amount: $500
Deadline: October 8, 2014 (round 3) AND October 22, 2014 (round 4)
Eligibility: Contest is open to students who are legal residents of the United States who are currently enrolled in an accredited high school (or home-schooled) in the US.
Requirements: Contestant must submit a photo they took while on a campus tour and include a description explaining why that part of campus appeals to them.

General Scholarship for Higher Learning
Sponsor: Lighting55
Amount: $1,250
Deadline: October 15, 2014
Eligibility: Scholarship is open to students from all majors from all countries worldwide. Applicant must be at least 16 years of age and enrolled in an accredited post-secondary academic institution.
Requirements: Applicant must submit online application form with four questions.

Save the Frogs! Art Contest
Sponsor: Save the Frogs!
Amount: $100
Deadline: October 15, 2014
Eligibility: Anyone can enter this contest.
Requirements: Contestant must creative an original art piece with frogs.

$10,000 Anti-Bullying Scholarship
Sponsor: Do Something
Amount: $10,000
Deadline: October 17, 2014
Eligibility: Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or reside in the United States or District of Columbia. Applicant must also be under the age of 26.
Requirements: Applicant must play an interactive anti-bullying game via text message.

$10,000 Everyone Deserves a Birthday Scholarship
Sponsor: Do Something
Amount: $10,000
Deadline: October 17, 2014
Eligibility: Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or reside in the United States or District of Columbia. Applicant must also be under the age of 26.
Requirements: Student must make and mail a birthday card to help ensure everyone gets to celebrate their birthday. Students get one entry for every two cards.

College Jump Start Scholarship
Sponsor: College JumpStart Scholarship Fund
Amount: Up to $1,500
Deadline: October 17, 2014
Eligibility: Scholarship is open to 10th-12th graders, college students and non-traditional students.
Requirements: Applicant must submit short online application and answer one personal question in 250 words or less.

Save the Frogs! Poetry Contest
Sponsor: Save the Frogs!
Amount: $100
Deadline: October 17, 2014
Eligibility: Anyone can enter this contest.
Requirements: Contestant must create an original poem about frogs.

Teen Art & Writing Contest
Sponsor: No Kid Hungry
Amount: Up to $500
Deadline: October 17, 2014
Eligibility: Contestants must be legal residents of the United States who are in 7th through 12th grades.
Requirements: Contestants must submit a short online form and an essay, poem, short film or piece of artwork.

Fall 2014 Video Scholarship Contest
Sponsor: Joe Foss Institute
Amount: Up to $5,000
Deadline: October 19, 2014
Eligibility: Applicant must be a junior or senior in high school and a U.S. citizen or legal resident.
Requirements: Applicant must create a video, no more than three minutes in length, that inspires viewers and reminds them of why our freedoms, our Constitution, and our Bill of Right are worth defending.
