Studying abroad is an excellent opportunity to explore the world and learn about new cultures while continuing your education. Here are scholarships open to studying who will be studying abroad.

Fund for Education Abroad Scholarship
Sponsor: Fund for Education Abroad
Amount: Up to $10,000
Closing Date: September 18, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents who are currently enrolled as an undergraduate at a college or university in the U.S. Applicant must be planning to study abroad and program must be eligible for credit at the student’s educational institution.

Ashley Soule Conroy Foundation Scholarship
Sponsor: Ashley Soule Conroy Foundation
Amount: $4,000
Closing Date: October 1, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to students currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at a four-year college or university in the United States. Applicant must be planning to participate in full-time study abroad for at least one full semester outside of the United States.

Bridging Scholarships
Sponsor: American Association of Teachers of Japanese
Amount: Up to $4,000
Closing Date: October 11, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to undergraduate students majoring in any field of study who will be participating in a study-abroad program in Japan. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen.

API Study Abroad and Intern Abroad Scholarships
Sponsor: API Study Abroad
Amount: Varies
Closing Date: October 15, 2018
Description: Scholarships are open to API program participants. There are multiple scholarships with specific requirements – see website for details. In addition to general scholarships, there are scholarships specifically open to community college students, military veterans, non-traditional students, students with disabilities, minority students, LGBTQ students, STEM majors, and student athletes.

Athena Penny Scholarship
Sponsor: Athena Study Abroad
Amount: $250
Closing Date: November 1, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to students studying abroad at any of Athena’s campuses overseas. Applicant must be accepted into an Athena short-term, semester or year-long abroad program. Applicant must submit an essay on why he/she selected the specific program location.

Marie McKay Global Citizen Scholarship
Sponsor: Athena Study Abroad
Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: November 1, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to students who have been accepted into an Athena semester or year-long study abroad program. Applicant must submit an essay that outlines his/her interest in social justice and service programs.

Short-Term Service Scholarship
Sponsor: Athena Study Abroad
Amount: $400
Closing Date: November 1, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to students accepted into an Athena January term study abroad program. Applicant must devote a day to a service project of his/her choosing and provide proof of service.

Description: Scholarship is open to current college students who will be studying abroad and have financial need.

Vincent I. Benander Learning Scholarship
Sponsor: Athena Study Abroad
Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: November 1, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to students who have been accepted into an Athena semester or year-long study abroad program. Applicant must have junior status or higher and a minimum GPA of 3.5. Student must submit an essay that demonstrates a love of learning.
