UPDATE as of February 2023: You may have noticed I don’t post as often as I used to. Since Fall 2022 I have been a guest educator (substitute) in my home school district. I felt called to do this with the shortage of teachers and substitutes. Since I started subbing, I have not had a day off – this is how desperate schools are for substitutes. I am doing my best to keep things updated, but please understand if I fall behind 🙂
Jessica started JLV College Counseling because she has a passion for helping students get to college. While her initial reason for starting JLV College Counseling was to be an independent educational consultant, she found it was not the right fit for her. JLVCollegeCounseling.com has now become a free resource for prospective and current college students, as well as their parents and guardians. Jessica believes that college admission and financial aid information should be available to all students and families, no matter their financial circumstances. Therefore, everything available at JLVCollegeCounseling.com is free and no family will be charged for any information or advice they receive from the site or Jessica. The only “income” Jessica receives from JLV College Counseling is from the ads you may see throughout the site, as well as affiliate links that will always be marked.
Jessica knows and understands the college admission process can be an extremely stressful time for students and their parents and it brings a lot of questions and concerns. Jessica’s primary goal is to help minimize anxiety for both students and their parents as they move through the process together.
As an admission officer, Jessica traveled throughout the United States meeting prospective students. She also read and made decisions on thousands of college admission applications, planned college visits events, trained campus tour guides, made decisions on admission marketing materials, and served on scholarship committees. With her in depth experience on the college side of admission, she understands all aspects of the college admission process and shares this information with students and families.
In addition to her work experience, Jessica strives to stay on top of admission trends by participating in professional college admissions organizations, reading admissions publications, networking with college admissions professionals, and visiting college campuses.
