Scholarships for parents

If you are a parent, paying for college may be difficult. Some scholarship providers want to help parents (single parents and parents that are still together) attend college by providing scholarship. Below are scholarships open to parents.

Description: Scholarship is open to legal U.S. residents who are at least 18 years of age and currently enrolled, or will be enrolled within the next three months, in a college or university in the United States. Applicant must be a mother or an expectant mother.

Description: Scholarship is open to Bay Area students who will be enrolled at an accredited, not-for-profit institution in the fall. Applicant must either be a single parent or a low-income minority student.

Description: Scholarship is open to dads who are currently enrolled, or will be enrolled within the next three months, in a college or university in the United States. Applicant must submit a short form to be entered for the scholarship.

Patsy Takemoto Mink Education Foundation Support Awards

Description: Award is open to low-income women who are at least 17 years of age and a mother with minor children. Applicant must be pursuing a vocational degree/certificate, associate’s degree, first bachelor’s degree, or a professional/master’s/doctoral degree.

Working Parent College Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to full and part-time students at an accredited U.S. post-secondary educational institution who are a residential parent of at least one minor child and have worked an average of at least 12 hours for each of the previous four weeks at the time of applying.

Description: Scholarship is open to U.S. residents who are 18 years of age and have legal and physical custody of one or more minor child. Applicant must also be enrolled full-time at an accredited college and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

NCJW/LA Scholarship Program

Description: Scholarships are open to students who live and attend school in the Greater Los Angeles area, including Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and Ventura Counties. Applicant must be trying to better their lives through education in the aftermath of trauma, loss and other setbacks. There are scholarships open to all majors and specific scholarships for nursing majors, mothers, non-traditional students, education majors, and film/television/cinema/theater majors.
