Scholarships for parents

If you are a parent, paying for college may be difficult. Some scholarship providers want to help parents (single parents and parents that are still together) attend college by providing scholarship. Below are scholarships open to parents.

ASIST – Albuquerque Scholarship
Sponsor: Executive Women International – Albuquerque

Description: Scholarship is open to non-traditional students who live within the boundaries of the Albuquerque Chapter who are past high school age and who are either entering college or already enrolled in college. Applicant must have financial need and preference will be given to those individuals with children residing in the home.

My Kid Needs Academic Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and current college students who are currently living in the United States or United Kingdom. Applicant must submit an essay on a given topic related to the importance of toys.

Valeant Dermatology Scholarship
Sponsor: Valeant Dermatology
Amount: $10,000
Closing Date: April 30, 2017
Description: Scholarship is open to students who have applied to, have been accepted to, or are currently attending an accredited, nonprofit, two- or four-year college, university, or advanced vocational or technical school in 2017. Applicant must have been diagnosed with and treated for a dermatologic condition. In addition to the general scholarships, there is a scholarship open to students who are mothers pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees.

NCJW | LA Scholarship Program
Sponsor: National Council of Jewish Women | Los Angeles
Amount: Up to $2,000
Closing Date: May 1, 2017
Description: Scholarships are open to students who live and attend school in the Greater Los Angeles area, including Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and Ventura Counties. Applicant must be trying to better their lives through education in the aftermath of trauma, loss and other setbacks. There are scholarships open to all majors and specific scholarships for non-traditional students, parents, nursing majors, education majors, and Film/Television/Cinema/Theater majors.

Bruce and Marjorie Sundlun Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to Rhode Island residents who are low-income single parents (men or women). Preference will be given to parents currently or previously receiving state aid or those who have been previously incarcerated.

Frances L. Macartney Porter Fund
Sponsor: Rhode Island Foundation
Amount: Up to $4,000
Closing Date: May 12, 2017
Description: Scholarship is open to Rhode Island residents and students attending a Rhode Island institution of higher learn who are single parents. Preference will be given to individuals enrolled in trade school. At scholarship site, search for scholarship name.

American Indian College Fund Scholarship

Description: Scholarships are open to American Indian/Alaska Native students. Scholarships are open to undergraduate or graduate students attending tribal colleges, as well as students attending any other accredited public and non-profit private college all across the United States. There are MANY scholarships available open to all American Indian/Alaska Native students. There are also specific scholarships mothers.

Scholarships4Moms Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to legal U.S. residents who are at least 18 years of age and currently enrolled, or will be enrolled within the next three months, in a college or university in the United States. Applicant must be a mother or an expectant mother.

Capture the Dream Scholarship Fund

Closing Date: June 30, 2017
Description: Scholarship is open to Bay Area students who will be enrolled at an accredited, not-for-profit institution in the fall. Applicant must either be a single parent or a low-income minority student.

Scholarships4Dads Scholarship

Closing Date: June 30, 2017
Description: Scholarship is open to dads who are currently enrolled, or will be enrolled within the next three months, in a college or university in the United States. Applicant must submit a short form to be entered for the scholarship.
