Athletic Scholarships

Some students are offered athletic scholarships to continue their sport in college. However, not all student athletes are give this opportunity. Luckily, there are outside scholarships open just to student athletes. Some of the scholarships listed are for specific sports, while others are open to all student athletes.

USBC Youth Scholarships
Sponsor: United States Bowling Congress

Description: Scholarships are open to students who are members of USBC and active bowlers. Multiple scholarships available with different eligibility requirements, including scholarships open specifically to males or females – see website for detail.

MHSAA Scholar-Athlete Award
Sponsor: Michigan High School Athletic Association
Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: December 4, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors attending a MHSAA member school with at least a 3.5 GPA. Applicant must have prior to senior year won a varsity letter in a sport in which the MHSAA sponsors a post-season tournament.

API Study Abroad and Intern Abroad Scholarships

Description: Scholarships are open to API program participants. There are multiple scholarships with specific requirements – see website for details. In addition to general scholarships, there are scholarships specifically open to community college students, military veterans, non-traditional students, students with disabilities, minority students, LGBTQ students, STEM majors, and student athletes.

Ambassador of Aloha Scholarships
Sponsor: Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Foundation
Amount: Varies
Closing Date: January 31, 2021
Description: Scholarship is open to full-time undergraduate students attending an accredited college or high school seniors demonstrating financial aid. Applicant must be a resident of Hawaii, have at least a 3.0 GPA, and participate in canoeing, surfing, kayaking, swimming, water polo, or volleyball, with a record of accomplishments and intention to compete in college.

Curwen-Guidry-Blackburn Scholarship Fund
Sponsor: Southern Bowling Congress
Amount: $750
Closing Date: March 15, 2021
Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors who are residents of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, or Texas. Applicant must currently be bowling in a USBC-sanctioned league and have bowled for three out of four years in high school.
