Athletic Scholarships

Some students are offered athletic scholarships to continue their sport in college. However, not all student athletes are give this opportunity. Luckily, there are outside scholarships open just to student athletes. Some of the scholarships listed are for specific sports, while others are open to all student athletes.

Marc E. Lewis Youth Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to Massachusetts graduating high school seniors who have made a high school and/or community sports program safer for and more inclusive of LGBTQ student-athletes, as either a role model or ally.

LPGA Scholarships

Description: Scholarships are open to female graduating high school seniors who played golf in high school. There are scholarships for students who are planning on playing collegiate golf and for students not planning on playing collegiate golf. In addition to general scholarships, there are scholarships open to minority female students.

NJSGA Caddie Scholarship

Description: Scholarships are open to graduating high school seniors and current undergraduate students who have caddied at a New Jersey State Golf Association club for at least two seasons.

Team Type1 Foundation Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and current college students who have Type 1 diabetes and is/will be a competitive athlete at an accredited NCAA or NAIA institution.

Women’s Western Golf Foundation Scholarship
Sponsor: Women’s Western Golf Foundation (WWGF)
Amount: $10,000 over four years
Closing Date: March 1, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to female high school seniors who are active participants in the sport of golf and have at least a 3.5 GPA.

AGA Women’s Scholarship
Sponsor: Alabama Golf Association
Amount: $2,500 per semester and will be renewed on a fall and spring basis for eight consecutive semesters.
Closing Date: March 2, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to female graduates of an accredited secondary school who have an interest in the game of golf. Applicant must be in need of financial assistance to pursue an undergraduate education in a college or university in the state of Alabama and applicant must be a resident of Alabama.

Curwen-Guidry-Blackburn Scholarship Fund

Amount: $750
Closing Date: March 15, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors who are residents of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, or Texas. Applicant must currently be bowling in a USBC-sanctioned league and have bowled for three out of four years in high school.

Par Aide’s Joseph S. Garske Collegiate Grant Program
Sponsor: Golf Course Superintendents Association of America
Amount: Up to $2,500

Description: Applicant must be a graduating high school senior who is accepted at an institution of higher learning for the upcoming year. One or more of the applicant’s parents or step-parents must have been a GCSAA member for five or more consecutive years and must be a current GCSAA member.

CMP Scholarship Program

Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors who demonstrate rifle or pistol marksmanship competition experience.

NSAA Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to residents of Alaska who are high school seniors or current undergraduate students. Applicant must be a member of a high school cross-country ski team in their junior and senior year.

API Study Abroad and Intern Abroad Scholarships

Description: Scholarships are open to API program participants. There are multiple scholarships with specific requirements – see website for details. In addition to general scholarships, there are scholarships specifically open to community college students, military veterans, non-traditional students, students with disabilities, minority students, LGBTQ students, STEM majors, and student athletes.

Bernie Varnadore Scholarship Program

Description: Scholarship is open to outstanding high school seniors who at one time participated in a franchised Dixie Boys Baseball (Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia), Inc. program and plan to pursue undergraduate studies at a college or university.

Dexter All-American Team Scholarship

Description: Scholarships are open to USBC high school members who are nominated by a coach or team administrator.

NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to student athletes who have achieved in their last year of varsity-level intercollegiate winter athletics at an NCAA school. Applicant must be nominated by the faculty athletic representative or athletic director and be enrolling as a full- or part-time graduate students. Applicant must have a minimum 3.2 GPA.

Novo Nordisk Donnelly Award

Description: Scholarship is open to students between 14 and 21 years of age who have diabetes and play tennis competitively.

Brian Pearson Memorial Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to incoming and enrolled students in a recognized undergraduate program in a major field related to turf management. Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and current college students who are Jewish and participate in a sport. Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and college freshman and sophomores who play or compete in a sport. Applicant must submit an essay on whether they believe collegiate athletes should be allowed to be paid for playing sports or not.

AAU Karate Scholarships

Description: Scholarship is open to students who have participate in AAU Karate for a minimum of four years. Student must be a graduating high school senior who will be attending an accredited college or university in the fall or a current undergraduate student.

Justin McCutcheon Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors boys and girls who participated in the golf team at a San Luis Obispo County or northern Santa Barbara County high school that completes in the Central Coast Athletic Association’s league.
