Some students are offered athletic scholarships to continue their sport in college. However, not all student athletes are give this opportunity. Luckily, there are outside scholarships open just to student athletes. Some of the scholarships listed are for specific sports, while others are open to all student athletes.

Walter J. Travis Memorial Scholarship
Sponsor: The Walter J. Travis Society, Inc.
Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: May 15, 2024
Description: Scholarship is open to students enrolled in the full-time undergraduate or graduate studies. Applicant must be pursuing a career in landscape design/golf course architecture, golf course turf grass management/golf course superintendent, professional golf management, club professional, or sports journalism with a special interest in golf.

AAU Karate Scholarships
Sponsor: Amateur Athletic Union of the United States
Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: May 17, 2024
Description: Scholarship is open to students who have participate in AAU Karate for a minimum of four years. Student must be a graduating high school senior who will be attending an accredited college or university in the fall or a current undergraduate student.

CBSMF Scholarship
Sponsor: Charles B. Staats Memorial Foundation
Amount: Up to $3,000
Closing Date: May 27, 2024
Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors from the Metro Atlanta area. Applicant must have demonstrated swim coach experience for at least two years.

Fishing Heritage Scholarship
Sponsor: Central Coast Women for Fisheries, Inc.
Amount: Varies
Closing Date: May 31, 2024
Description: Scholarship is open to descendants of a licensed California commercial fisherman, descendants of the current spouse of a licensed California commercial fisherman, or holder of a valid California commercial fishing license or worked on a vessel licensed by the California Department of Fish and Game for at least the past five years. San Luis Obispo County qualified applicants will have priority of the available scholarship funds.

Allan MacCurrach Jr. Award
Sponsor: Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) Foundation
Amount: $10,000
Closing Date: June 1, 2024
Description: Scholarship is open to students currently enrolled in a college or technical school who are majoring in a field related to golf course management, planning a career as a superintendent or related profession, be 23 years of age or older, and be a GSAA member.

JWV National Youth Achievement Grant Program
Sponsor: Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America
Amount: Up to $1,500
Closing Date: June 1, 2024
Description: Grant program is open to high school seniors who are direct descendants (children, grandchildren and great grand-children) of members in good standing. In addition to the academic scholarships, there is also a scholarship open specifically to students who have documented athletic achievement during their high school career.

NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship
Sponsor: National Collegiate Athletic Association
Amount: Up to $10,000
Closing Date: June 7, 2024
Description: Scholarship is open to student athletes who have achieved in their last year of varsity-level intercollegiate spring athletics at an NCAA school. Applicant must be nominated by the faculty athletic representative or athletic director and be enrolling as a full- or part-time graduate students. Applicant must have a minimum 3.2 GPA.

Helen Gee Chin Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to U.S. citizens who plan to or are currently enrolled full-time as an undergraduate at an accredited U.S. four-year college or university for the entire academic year. Applicant must have studied one or more of the Chinese Martial Arts – Kung Fu, Wu Shu, or Tai Chi – for a minimum of five years.
