LGBTQ Scholarships

If you are a member of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer + community, there are scholarships out there just for you. In addition, many of these scholarships are also open to LGBTQ+ allies.

First in Family Humanist Scholarship; Freedom From Religion Foundation Forwards Freethought Scholarship
Sponsor: Black Skeptics Los Angeles | Freedom From Religion Foundation
Amount: $5,000
Closing Date: June 25, 2021
Description: Scholarship is open to students of color who identify as agnostic, atheist, humanist and/or secular. Preference will be given to students who are first in their families to go to college and students who are (or have been) in foster care, homeless, undocumented and/or LGBTQ are encouraged to apply. Applicant must provide an admission letter to a two or four-year college.

Little Bird Scholarship for LGBTQI Immigrants
Sponsor: Stonewall Community Foundation
Amount: Up to $18,000
Closing Date: June 25, 2021
Description: Scholarship is open to undergraduate rising juniors and seniors who are both LGBTQ or intersex and undocumented immigrants, including refugees and individuals seeking or granted asylum. Applicant must be enrolled at an accredited, nonprofit school in New York City.

AfterCollege STEM Inclusion Scholarship

Amount: $500
Closing Date: June 30, 2021
Description: Scholarship is open to currently enrolled students working towards a degree in a field of Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics from a group underrepresented in their field of study. Underrepresented groups may be defined by gender, race, ethnic background, disability, sexual orientation, age, socio-economic status, nationality, and other non-visible differences.

Grace Towers Scholarship for the Arts
Sponsor: Queens of the Castro
Amount: $2,000
Closing Date: June 30, 2021
Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors and current college students in California who are 16 to 25 years of age and identify as members of the LGBTQ+ community. At some point in their high school career, applicant’s art should have demonstrated a commitment to raising awareness about LGBTQ+ issues and contributed to the conversation.

Queens of the Castro Scholarship
Sponsor: Queens of the Castro
Amount: Up to $8,000
Closing Date: June 30, 2021
Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors and current college students in California who are 16 to 25 years of age and identify as members of the LGBTQ+ community. Applicant must have, at some point in their high school or post high school career, demonstrated a commitment to raising awareness about LGBTQ+ issues, combating homophobia and/or bullying or educating their community about similar topics.

Charlotte Pride Scholarship
Sponsor: Charlotte Pride
Amount: Up to $2,500
Closing Date: July 11, 2021
Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors and current college students from the Charlotte metro area (see website for map) with a GPA of 2.8 or above. Applicant must be LGBTQ or a Straight Ally student who has demonstrated service to the LGBTQ community or desire to serve the LGBT community.

Out to Protect Scholarship

Amount: Up to $1,000
Closing Date: November 26, 2021
Description: Scholarship is open to students currently enrolled in a basic law enforcement training program in the United States who identify as gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, or transgender.
