LGBTQ Scholarships

If you are a member of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer + community, there are scholarships out there just for you. In addition, many of these scholarships are also open to LGBTQ+ allies.

AfterCollege STEM Inclusion Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to currently enrolled students working towards a degree in a field of Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics from a group underrepresented in their field of study. Underrepresented groups may be defined by gender, race, ethnic background, disability, sexual orientation, age, socio-economic status, nationality, and other non-visible differences.

Gamma Mu Foundation Scholarships

Description: Scholarships are open to gay men under 35 years of age who have completed high school by June of the current year, and are U.S. citizen.

PFLAG San Jose/Peninsula Scholarships

Description: Scholarships are open to graduating high school seniors who reside in or attend high school in Santa Clara or San Mateo Counties (California). Applicant’s history, activities, and personal plans must demonstrate support for justice and equality for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender persons.

PFLAG Tucson Scholarships

Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors, undergraduate students, and graduate students from Southern Arizona attending an institution OR a student coming to southern Arizona to attend college or university. API Study Abroad and Intern Abroad Scholarships

Description: Scholarships are open to API program participants. There are multiple scholarships with specific requirements – see website for details. In addition to general scholarships, there are scholarships specifically open to community college students, military veterans, non-traditional students, students with disabilities, minority students, LGBTQ students, STEM majors, and student athletes.

Diversity in Law Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to first-year law students enrolled full-time at an ABA-accredited law school or be part-time (four-year program) or joint-degree students in their second year of law school at an ABA-accredited law school. Applicant must be a member of a population or group whose background and perspectives are historically underrepresented in the private practice of law OR demonstrate a long-standing commitment to diversity.

George A. Strait Minority Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to college graduates who are members of a minority group as defined by current U.S. government guidelines and are degree candidates in accredited library or law schools and who intend to have a career in law librarianship.

NSHSS Foundation STEM Scholarships

Description: Competition is open to students enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school. Applicant must submit an essay on a legal issue affecting the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and/or intersex community.

Diversity Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to all diversity and minority students, including Hispanics, African-Americans, Asian Americans, Native Americans, military veterans, women, people with disabilities, and members of the LGBT community.
