LGBTQ Scholarships

If you are a member of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer + community, there are scholarships out there just for you. In addition, many of these scholarships are also open to LGBTQ+ allies.

Peter J. Hengel Thai Scholarship Program

Description: Scholarship is open to males of Thai descent, age 23 and under, who are high school seniors or graduates and plan to enroll or students who are already enrolled in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the United States (preferably Minnesota) for the entire upcoming academic year. Preference will be given to students who are gay.

AfterCollege STEM Inclusion Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to currently enrolled students working towards a degree in a field of Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics from a group underrepresented in their field of study. Underrepresented groups may be defined by: gender, race, ethnic background, disability, sexual orientation, age, socio-economic status, nationality and other non-visual differences.

Pride Foundation Scholarships

Description: Applicant must be a resident of the Northwest (Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, or Washington) and pursuing post-secondary education. Applicant must also be LGBTQ or a straight ally student leader.

PFund Scholarships

Amount: Up to $10,000
Closing Date: January 15, 2019
Description: Scholarship is open to students who identify as LGBTQI and allies who are strongly invested in LGBTQI communities and who live or attend scholastic programs in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin. While applicants do not need to fit the following preferences, the selection committee will look more closely at applicants who fit one or more of the following attributes: indigenous, Black, People of Color; undocumented, first generation, immigrants, and new Americans; Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming people, and LBGTQIA individuals from North Dakota or South Dakota.

Better Brothers LA Book Scholarship

Point Foundation Scholarship Program

Description: Scholarships are open to high school seniors and current college student who are “out” as a person who identifies as a member of the LGBTQ community. There is no citizenship requirement, but applicant must be attending or planning to attend an institution in the United States.

eQuality Scholarship Collaborative Scholarships

Description: Scholarships are open to California graduating high school seniors and current college students who have provided service to the LGBT+ community (open to all sexual orientations). In addition to the general scholarships, there are scholarships open to Nursing students and Medical students.

High School Seniors English Essay Contest

Description: Contest is open to students aged 18 and under who have not yet graduated from high school and who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or an ally. Applicant must submit an essay on “pink ink.”

Asian Pacific Fund Scholarships

Amount: Up to $20,000
Closing Date: February 26, 2019
Description: Scholarships are open to students in California who are of Asian descent. Multiple scholarships available with specific requirements. See website for details. In addition to general scholarships, there are scholarships specifically open to Computer Science, Economics, Environmental or Physical Science, Engineering, Journalism or Mathematics majors, and LGBT students.

API Study Abroad and Intern Abroad Scholarships

Description: Scholarships are open to API program participants. There are multiple scholarships with specific requirements – see website for details. In addition to general scholarships, there are scholarships specifically open to community college students, military veterans, non-traditional students, students with disabilities, minority students, LGBTQ students, STEM majors, and student athletes.
