LGBTQ Scholarships

If you are a member of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer + community, there are scholarships out there just for you. In addition, many of these scholarships are also open to LGBTQ+ allies.

ICOAA Scholarship Program
Sponsor: The Imperial Court of All Alaska College of Emperors and Empresses
Amount: Varies
Closing Date: July 31, 2017
Description: Scholarship is open to students fully admitted to a college, university, trade or vocational school who is an Alaska resident. Awards are based on economic need, scholastic achievement, leadership ability and contributions to the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Allied (GLBTA) community. Preference is given to members of the GLBTA community.

NGPA Scholarships
Sponsor: National Gay Pilots Association (NGPA)
Amount: Up to $5,000
Closing Date: August 1, 2017
Description: Scholarships are open to students who are seeking to develop professional aviation skills. While students do not have to be LGBT, the applicant should provide evidence of his or her contribution to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.

AEF Scholarship
Sponsor: Acorn Equality Fund
Amount: Up to $5,000
Closing Date: September 22, 2017
Description: Scholarship is open to students who will retain permanent residence in the AEF service area of downstate Illinois and attend any accredited, post-secondary educational institution. Scholarships are designed to provide academic financial support for gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered students, allies, or the children of gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgendered parents.

AfterCollege STEM Inclusion Scholarship
Sponsor: AfterCollege
Amount: $500
Closing Date: September 30, 2017
Description: Scholarship is open to currently enrolled students working towards a degree in a field of Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics and who are from a group underrepresented in their field of study.

API Study Abroad and Intern Abroad Scholarships

Amount: Up to $28,000 over four years

Description: Scholarship is open to graduating, minority high school seniors who plan on attending an accredited and approved four-year institution within the United States. Applicant must show leadership potential, dedication to community service, and evidence of financial need.
