Military Scholarships

The brave men and women of the Armed Forces sacrifice a lot for our nation. Many scholarship providers want to give back by offering scholarships open only to military service members, veterans, and their dependents. Below are scholarships for military service members, veterans, and military and veteran spouses and dependents.

Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation Scholars Program
Sponsor: Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation
Amount: Up to $6,250
Closing Date: Monthly – all documents due to the program team by the 15th of each month
Description: Program is open to children – whether natural, by marriage or adoption – who have lost a parent in the line of military duty, during combat or peacetime. All branches (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard) and all components (active, reserve and guard are covered).

Educational Benefits for Children of Deceased Veterans and Others
Sponsor: Delaware Department of Education
Amount: Tuition and fees at your college (see website for specific details)
Closing Date: Completed application is due 6-8 weeks before classes begin
Description: Program is open to residents of the state of Delaware between the ages of 16 and 24 years of age whose parent was a resident of Delaware at the time of death or declaration of mission in action or prisoner of war status.

Wells Fargo Veterans Emergency Grant Program
Sponsor: Wells Fargo
Amount: Up to $1,000
Closing Date: There is no application deadline, but grants will be awarded on an ongoing basis until funds are exhausted.
Description: Grant program is open to honorably-discharged veterans and spouses of disabled veterans who have served in the United States military. Applicant must be a student who is already enrolled in full-time undergraduate or graduate study.

Longworth Law Firm Scholarship
Sponsor: Longworth Law Firm, P.C.
Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: August 31, 2019
Description: Scholarship is open to enrolled and accepted college students. Applicant must share why it is important to provide affordable family law services to military, law enforcement, and other first responders.

Tampa Car Accident Lawyers Academic Scholarship

Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: August 31, 2019
Description: Scholarship is open to students enrolled or accepted at an accredited college or university. Applicant must submit an essay on why it is important to provide affordable legal services to military, law enforcement, and other first responders.

Description: Scholarship is open to veterans and active members of the U.S. military who are enrolled at a private or public educational institution, and working towards a certificate, diploma, or degree.

Military Spouse Scholarships
Sponsor: National Military Family Association
Amount: Varies
Closing Date: September 30, 2018
Description: Scholarships and career funds are open to military spouses with a valid military ID. Applicant must be working towards a career, a degree, or clinical supervision towards licensure in the mental health profession.

Military Spouse Scholarships & Caregiver Scholarships
Sponsor: Hope For The Warriors
Amount: Varies
Closing Date: September 30, 2019
Description: Scholarship is open to post-9/11 spouses and caregivers who are undergraduate or graduate degree students. In addition to the general scholarships, there scholarships open specifically to those pursuing entry-level classes or training, spouses of the fallen, and MSW students.

Minuteman Scholarship
Sponsor: U.S. Army Reserve
Amount: 4 years of full tuition and fees
Closing Date: September 30, 2019
Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors who plan to participate in Army ROTC in college. Student should contact the Professor of Military Science or Recruiting Operations Officer at the Army ROTC program that serves their college or university.

Clifford H. “Ted” Rees, Jr. Scholarship
Sponsor: Clifford H. “Ted” Rees, Jr. Scholarship Foundation
Amount: $2,000
Closing Date: October 1, 2019
Description: Scholarship is open to students enrolled in a HVACR training program at an accredited school. In addition to the general scholarship, there is a scholarship specifically for military veterans.

Military Line Student Ethics Scholarship Award
Sponsor: Better Business Bureau Connecticut
Amount: Varies
Closing Date: October 7, 2019
Description: Scholarship is open to Connecticut residents who are high school students or adult learners and are in a military family, which includes being a dependent or spouse. Students and adult learners may apply as early as their junior year of high school or as late as the end of college freshman year.

API Study Abroad and Intern Abroad Scholarships

Closing Date: October 15, 2019
Description: Scholarships are open to API program participants. There are multiple scholarships with specific requirements – see website for details. In addition to general scholarships, there are scholarships specifically open to community college students, military veterans, non-traditional students, students with disabilities, minority students, LGBTQ students, STEM majors, and student athletes.

American Legion – Department of Kansas Scholarships
Sponsor: The American Legion – Department of Kansas

Closing Date: February 15, 2020
Description: Scholarships are open to graduating high school seniors and current college students from the state of Kansas. In addition to general scholarships, there are scholarships open to children of veterans, Scouts, athletes, and students with talent in music and public speaking.

Daniel E. Lambert Memorial Scholarship

Closing Date: May 1, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to incoming and current college students who are residents of Maine and have a parent or grandparent who is a veteran.

James V. Day Scholarship
Sponsor: The American Legion Department of Maine
Amount: $500
Closing Date: May 1, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to incoming and current college students who are residents of Maine. Applicant must have a parent or grandparent who is a member of the Maine American Legion.
