Military Scholarships

The brave men and women of the Armed Forces sacrifice a lot for our nation. Many scholarship providers want to give back by offering scholarships open only to military service members, veterans, and their dependents. Below are scholarships for military service members, veterans, and military and veteran spouses and dependents.

Clifford H. “Ted” Rees, Jr. Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to students enrolled in a HVACR training program at an accredited school. In addition to the general scholarship, there is a scholarship specifically for military veterans.

Description: Scholarship is open to undergraduate child dependents of an active duty service member to study or intern abroad on a credit-bearing program. This deadline is for students studying or interning abroad during December 1, 2022 to October 23, 2023.

Description: Scholarship is open to uniformed service members (active, reserves, guard) who are currently enrolled in an educational program at a regional or national accredited institution and is a member institution of CCME.

Loretta Cornett-Huff Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to spouses of uniformed service members (active, reserve, guard, veteran) who are currently enrolled in an educational program in a regional or national accredited institution and is a member institution of CCME.

Military Child Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to children of Active-Duty Service members, Drilling Reservists, or National Guard members and are currently enrolled in a regionally or nationally accredited post-secondary educational program with a CCME member institution.

Workforce Credentials Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to current or prior uniformed Service member, spouse, or child of a uniformed Service member. Applicant must be be currently enrolled in a credit-bearing or non-degree seeking program with a DoD Skillbridge provider that is also a CCME member institution/organization (reference list here) OR be currently enrolled in a credit-bearing or non-degree seeking program validated by the U.S. Department of Labor or a State Apprenticeship Agency and offered by a CCME member institution/organization (reference list here) that will result in an industry-recognized credential to include certification, licensure, or work experience programs (e.g. internship, apprenticeship).

API Study Abroad and Intern Abroad Scholarships

Description: Scholarships are open to API program participants. There are multiple scholarships with specific requirements – see website for details. In addition to general scholarships, there are scholarships specifically open to community college students, military veterans, non-traditional students, students with disabilities, minority students, DACA students, LGBTQ students, STEM majors, and student athletes.

Patriot’s Pen Competition
Sponsor: Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States

Description: Competition is open to students in grades 6-8 in the United States, its territories and its possessions. Applicant must submit an essay on the following theme: “My Pledge to Our Veterans.”

Veterans United Foundation Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to a surviving spouse or a surviving child of a deceased service member or Veteran of the U.S. Military who is currently enrolled or planning to enroll in a college or university by the fall semester.

Voice of Democracy Scholarship Competition
Sponsor: Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States
Amount: Up to $30,000
Closing Date: October 31, 2022
Description: Program is open to students in grades 9-12 who are enrolled in a public, private or parochial high school or home study program in the United States, its territories and possessions. Applicant must submit a 3-5 minute essay on this year’s theme; “Why is the Veteran Important?”

Boyk Law Veteran Scholarship
Sponsor: Charles E. Boyk Law Offices, LLC
Amount: $2,000
Closing Date: November 1, 2022
Description: Scholarship is open to U.S. citizens who are currently attending an accredited college or university in the United States who has served in the United State Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, or Reserves OR is the child or stepchild of someone who has. Applicant must have at least a 3.0 GPA.

H&P Veterans Helping Veterans Scholarships

Description: Scholarship is open to veterans of the armed forces who plan to use their education to help fellow veterans.

SportClips Veterans’ Scholarship
Sponsor: Veterans of Foreign Wars | SportClips Haircuts
Amount: Up to $5,000
Closing Date: November 15, 2022
Description: Scholarship is open to students who are retired, honorably discharged, active duty, or a member of the National Guard or Reserve. Applicant must participate in, be accepted to, or currently enrolled in a VA-approved program or school at an accredited post-secondary institution.

Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation Scholars Program
Sponsor: Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation
Amount: Up to $6,250
Closing Date: Monthly – all documents due to the program team by the 15th of each month
Description: Program is open to children – whether natural, by marriage or adoption – who have lost a parent in the line of military duty, during combat or peacetime. All branches (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard) and all components (active, reserve and guard are covered).

Educational Benefits for Children of Deceased Veterans and Others
Sponsor: Delaware Department of Education
Amount: Tuition and fees at your college (see website for specific details)
Closing Date: Completed application is due 6-8 weeks before classes begin
Description: Program is open to residents of the state of Delaware between the ages of 16 and 24 years of age whose parent was a resident of Delaware at the time of death or declaration of mission in action or prisoner of war status.

Wells Fargo Veterans Emergency Grant Program
Sponsor: Wells Fargo
Amount: Up to $1,000
Closing Date: There is no application deadline, but grants will be awarded on an ongoing basis until funds are exhausted.
Description: Grant program is open to honorably-discharged veterans and spouses of disabled veterans who have served in the United States military. Applicant must be a student who is already enrolled in full-time undergraduate or graduate study.
