The brave men and women of the Armed Forces sacrifice a lot for our nation. Many scholarship providers want to give back by offering scholarships open only to military service members, veterans, and their dependents. Below are scholarships for military service members, veterans, and military and veteran spouses and dependents.

Military Veteran Scholarship
Sponsor: The Behan Law Group
Amount: $1,000.00
Closing Date: May 27, 2026
Description: Scholarship is open to U.S. military veterans, current service members in the U.S. military, or the children of a Veteran or current service member. Applicant must be currently enrolled in, or have been accepted to, an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited university or college in the U.S.

JWV National Youth Achievement Grant Program
Sponsor: Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America
Amount: Up to $1,500
Closing Date: May 31, 2026
Description: Grant program is open to high school seniors who are direct descendants (children, grandchildren and great grand-children) of members in good standing. In addition to the academic scholarships, there is also a scholarship open specifically to students who have documented athletic achievement during their high school career.

Robert J. Trace Scholarship
Sponsor: The American Legion – Department of Pennsylvania
Amount: $500.00
Closing Date: May 31, 2026
Description: Scholarship is open to students 15 to 18 years of age who reside within the state of Pennsylvania. Applicant must be a child or grandchild of a Pennsylvania Legionnaire, decease Pennsylvania Legionnaire, or a child of a Pennsylvania soldier who was killed as a result of the war on terrorism.

TrophyCentral Sportsmanship & Compassion Scholarship
Sponsor: Trophy Central
Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: May 31, 2026
Description: Scholarship is open to incoming college freshmen who had at least a 3.25 GPA in high school. Applicant must have demonstrated a unique or special form of sportsmanship, kindness or compassion. Although not required, special attention will be given to applicants who are the first in their generation to attend college or are entering a branch of the military (ex. ROTC).

Clifford H. “Ted” Rees, Jr. Scholarship
Sponsor: Clifford H. “Ted” Rees, Jr. Scholarship Foundation
Amount: $2,000.00
Closing Date: June 1, 2026
Description: Scholarship is open to students enrolled in a HVACR training program at an accredited school. In addition to the general scholarship, there is a scholarship specifically for military veterans and students in Florida.

Minuteman Scholarship
Sponsor: U.S. Army Reserve
Amount: 4 years of full tuition and fees
Closing Date: June 1, 2026
Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors who plan to participate in Army ROTC in college. Student should contact the Professor of Military Science or Recruiting Operations Officer at the Army ROTC program that serves their college or university.

Peace Keepers Scholarship
Sponsor: Illinois Sheriffs’ Association
Amount: Varies
Closing Date: June 1, 2026
Description: Scholarship is open to Illinois residents who are the dependents of active duty or retired Law Enforcement or Law Enforcement killed in the line of duty or dependents of active duty military, active Military Reserve, active National Guard or a member killed in action. Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student at an institution of higher learning in Illinois during the upcoming school year.

Purple Heart Scholarship Program
Sponsor: Military Order of the Purple Heart
Amount: Varies
Closing Date: June 1, 2026
Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and current college students with at least a 2.75 GPA. Applicant must be a Purple Heart recipient who is a member of the MOPH, a spouse of a Purple Heart recipient who is a member of MOPH, or someone who is a direct lineal descendent (child, step-child, adopted child, grandchild, step-grandchild, or great grandchild) of a Purple Heart recipient who s a member of MOPH.

Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation Scholars Program
Sponsor: Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation
Amount: Up to $6,250
Closing Date: Monthly – all documents due to the program team by the 15th of each month
Description: Program is open to children – whether natural, by marriage or adoption – who have lost a parent in the line of military duty, during combat or peacetime. All branches (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard) and all components (active, reserve and guard are covered). 

Educational Benefits for Children of Deceased Veterans and Others
Sponsor: Delaware Department of Education
Amount: Tuition and fees at your college (see website for specific details)
Closing Date: Completed application is due 6-8 weeks before classes begin
Description: Program is open to residents of the state of Delaware between the ages of 16 and 24 years of age whose parent was a resident of Delaware at the time of death or declaration of mission in action or prisoner of war status.

Wells Fargo Veterans Emergency Grant Program
Sponsor: Wells Fargo
Amount: Up to $1,000
Closing Date: There is no application deadline, but grants will be awarded on an ongoing basis until funds are exhausted.
Description: Grant program is open to honorably-discharged veterans and spouses of disabled veterans who have served in the United States military. Applicant must be a student who is already enrolled in full-time undergraduate or graduate study.
