Military Scholarships

The brave men and women of the Armed Forces sacrifice a lot for our nation. Many scholarship providers want to give back by offering scholarships open only to military service members, veterans, and their dependents. Below are scholarships for military service members, veterans, and military and veteran spouses and dependents.

Accenture Student Veterans Scholarship
Sponsor: Student Veterans of American | Accenture
Amount: $10,000
Closing Date: March 31, 2017
Description: Scholarship is open to full-time students enrolled in an undergraduate program at a four-year college or university for the 2016-2017 academic year. Applicant must demonstrate leadership and engagement in their community and be a current student veteran, as proven by a DD 214 and transcript.

AFSA Scholarships and Grant Programs
Sponsor: Air Force Sergeants Association and Airmen Memorial Foundation
Amount: Up to $3,000
Closing Date: March 31, 2017
Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and current college students who are Air Force Dependent children pursuing undergraduate degrees.

Army Nurse Corps Association (ANCA) Scholarship
Sponsor: Army Nurse Corps Association
Amount: $3,000
Closing Date: March 31, 2017
Description: Scholarship is open to students currently enrolled in an accredited baccalaureate or advanced degree nursing or nurse anesthesia program who are serving or have previously served in any branch of a component of the U.S. Army. Applicant must not currently be receiving funding by a component of the U.S. Army and have received an Honorable Discharge (if applicable).

Enlisted Prize Essay Contest

Amount: Up to $3,000

Description: Contest is open to enlisted personnel – active duty, reserve and retired-from any nation’s sea services. Applicant must submit an essay on a topic that makes the naval profession stronger.

Folds of Honor Scholarship

Amount: Up to $5,000
Closing Date: March 31, 2017
Description: Scholarship is open to dependents of service members enrolled in grades Kindergarten – 12. Funds may be used for approved/accredited private school tuition, IRS approved educational tutoring from an approved tutoring company, approved/accredited homeschool curriculum, required books, and required school uniforms.

Kim and Harold Louis Family Foundation

Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and individuals entering their freshman year of college during the 2017-2018 academic year. Applicant must have at least a 3.5 GPA and demonstrate outstanding personal achievements, academic merit, leadership qualities and/or community service. Special consideration will be noted for applicants who have parents who are U.S. veterans or currently in the U.S. military, students with financial need, first generation college students, and students with a documented significant disability.

Lance Corporal Phillip E. Frank-Fifth Third Bank Memorial Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors, as well as veterans who exemplify the spirit of the Heart Of A Marine Foundation: Honor, Patriotism, Loyalty, Respect, and Concern for Others.

Raytheon Patriot Scholarship

Description: Applicant must be a U.S. Army veteran entering sophomore, junior or senior year of undergraduate study, or enrolled in a graduate program for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Alabama American Legion Scholarship
Sponsor: American Legion Department of Alabama
Amount: $850
Closing Date: April 1, 2017
Description: Scholarships are open to current college students who are legal residents of Alabama who are a son, daughter, grandson, or granddaughter of a veteran that served their country during times of war.

API Study Abroad and Intern Abroad Scholarships

Closing Date: April 1, 2017
Description: Scholarships are open to API program participants. There are multiple scholarships with specific requirements – see website for details. In addition to general scholarships, there are scholarships specifically open to community college students, military veterans, non-traditional students, students with disabilities, minority students, LGBTQ students, STEM majors, and student athletes.
