Military Scholarships

The brave men and women of the Armed Forces sacrifice a lot for our nation. Many scholarship providers want to give back by offering scholarships open only to military service members, veterans, and their dependents. Below are scholarships for military service members, veterans, and military and veteran spouses and dependents.

Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation Scholars Program
Sponsor: Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation
Amount: Up to $6,250
Closing Date: Monthly – all documents due to the program team by the 15th of each month
Description: Program is open to children – whether natural, by marriage or adoption – who have lost a parent in the line of military duty, during combat or peacetime. All branches (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard) and all components (active, reserve and guard are covered).

Leadership Essay Contest
Sponsor: U.S. Naval Institute | Dr. J. Phillip London | CACI International
Amount: Up to $5,000
Closing Date: September 30, 2017
Description: Contest is open to junior officers, 0-4 (LCDR/MAJ) and below, from the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, and U.S. Coast Guard. Applicant must submit an essay on a given topic related to leadership.

Clifford H. “Ted” Rees, Jr. Scholarship
Sponsor: Clifford H. “Ted” Rees, Jr. Scholarship Foundation
Amount: $2,000
Closing Date: October 1, 2017
Description: Scholarship is open to students enrolled in a HVACR training program at an accredited school. In addition to the general scholarship, there is a scholarship specifically for military veterans.

Ehline American Military Vets Scholarship

Closing Date: October 1, 2017
Description: Scholarship is open to military veterans who are enrolled in an accredited Law Office Study Program, or Law School, such as a judge’s chambers, law school, or other university.

Airman Scholarship and Commission Program (ASCP)
Sponsor: Air Force ROTC
Amount: Up to $18,000
Closing Date: October 15, 2017
Description: Program is open to students participating in Air Force ROTC who are U.S. citizens, under 31 years of age as of Dec. 31 of the year of graduation or commission, and in good academic standing. Applicant must receive a recommendation from their immediate commander.

API Study Abroad and Intern Abroad Scholarships

Description: Scholarships are open to API program participants. There are multiple scholarships with specific requirements – see website for details. In addition to general scholarships, there are scholarships specifically open to community college students, military veterans, non-traditional students, students with disabilities, minority students, LGBTQ students, STEM majors, and student athletes.

Veterans United Foundation Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to a surviving spouse or a surviving child of a deceased service member or Veteran of the U.S. Military who is currently enrolled or planning to enroll in a college or university by the spring semester of 2018.

Description: Scholarship is open to spouses of uniformed service members (active, reserve, guard, veteran) who are currently enrolled in an educational program in a regional or national accredited institution and is a member institution of CCME.

Description: Scholarship is open to veterans of the armed forces who plan to use their education to help fellow veterans.

SportClips Veterans’ Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to students who are retired, honorably discharged, active duty, or a member of the National Guard or Reserve. Applicant must participate in, be accepted to, or currently enrolled in a VA-approved program or school at an accredited post-secondary institution.

War Veterans Scholarship
Sponsor: AFCEA Educational Foundation
Amount: $2,500
Closing Date: November 15, 2017
Description: Scholarship is open to persons on active duty in the uniformed military services, to honorably discharged U.S. military veterans (including Reservists and National Guard personnel) of the Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan or Iraqi Freedom Operations who are currently enrolled and attending classes in an Undergraduate program part-time or full-time in an eligible STEM major degree program at an accredited four-year college or university in the U.S.

Description: Scholarship is open to students who are studying a trade, such as plumbing, HVAC, and electrical. In addition to the general scholarship, there is a scholarship specifically open to veterans and military personnels.

Veteran Benefits Scholarship

Amount: $2,000
Closing Date: December 31, 2017
Description: Scholarship is open to students enrolled in an associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree or graduate level program at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university. Veterans and military personnel are urged to apply for the scholarship, although it is open to all current college students. Applicant must submit an essay on a given topic related to veterans benefits.

American Legion – Department of Kansas Scholarships

Closing Date: February 15, 2018
Description: Scholarships are open to graduating high school seniors and current college students from the state of Kansas. In addition to general scholarships, there are scholarships open to Nursing majors, children of veterans, Scouts, athletes, and students with talent in music and public speaking.

Description: Scholarships are open to sons, daughters, or spouses of regular active duty, active duty Reserve, or active duty National Guard U.S. Army members in good standing, OR sons or daughters of former U.S. Army members who received an honorable discharge or medical discharge, or who were killed while serving in the U.S. Army. Applicant must be a high school senior, high school graduate, or registered undergraduate student.
