SPJ High School Essay Contest

Description: Contest is open to students enrolled in grades 9-12 in U.S. public, private, and home schools within the United States. Applicant must submit an essay on the topic, “Why is misinformation or disinformation (fake news) so easily spread, and how can journalists aim to counter it?”
James L. and Nellie M. Westlake Scholarship Program

Richard and Louise Varco Scholarship
Sponsor: Richard and Louise Varco Scholarship Fund, Saint Paul and Minnesota Communication Foundation

Description: Scholarship is open to students who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate, graduate or professional level study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school in Minnesota for the entire upcoming academic year. Applicant must have at least a 2.5 GPA OR be a worker displaced under extraordinary circumstances.
FSF Scholarships

Amount: Up to $20,000 over four years

Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and current college students who graduated from a school or homeschool program in the State of Hawaii. Applicant must have an interest in Business and eventually return to Hawaii or the Pacific Islands region (if going out-of-state for college).

Description: Scholarships are open to California college students with serious illness or injury. Applicant must be under the age of 32 and have a serious medical condition affecting their ability to stay in school.
