Scholarship Saturday – October 9, 2021

There are thousands of scholarships out there. Below you will find many scholarships, most with general eligibility requirements. My goal is to share some lesser-known scholarships with my readers every Saturday.

Description: Scholarships are open to students who live and attend school in the Greater Los Angeles area, including Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and Ventura Counties. Applicant must be trying to better their lives through education in the aftermath of trauma, loss and other setbacks. There are scholarships open to all majors and specific scholarships for nursing majors, mothers, non-traditional students, education majors, and film/television/cinema/theater majors.

Sprout Social UNCF Scholarship Program

Closing Date: October 20, 2021
Description: Scholarship is open to African American college seniors graduating in May 2022 attending any accredited four-year college, majoring in Computer Science or Software Engineering.

TJX Scholarship Program

Amount: Up to $10,000
Closing Date: October 25, 2021
Description: Scholarship is open to Black/African American college students with at least a 2.5 GPA. Applicant must have demonstrated, unmet financial need.

Richard F. Freeman Scholarship

Amount: Varies
Closing Date: October 26, 2021
Description: Scholarship is open to current college freshman who are enrolled full-time at any accredited four-year institution, non-profit college, or university for the current academic year. Applicant must be from Southeast Michigan.

Wm Wrigley Foundation Scholarship

Amount: Up to $5,000
Closing Date: October 28, 2021
Description: Scholarship is open to undergraduate students who are enrolled in a UNCF member school during the 2021-2022 academic year. Candidates for this scholarship should be majoring in engineering (chemical, mechanical, electrical, industrial), business, finance, accounting, chemistry, economics, computer science, or marketing.

Alpine Recovery Lodge Bi-Annual Scholarship Essay Contest
Sponsor: Alpine Recovery Lodge
Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: November 1, 2021
Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors and current undergraduate and graduate students who are residents of Utah, Colorado, Idaho, Wyoming, New Mexico, Arizona, or Nevada. Applicant must submit an essay detailing how addiction has directly affected them.

Boyk Law Veteran Scholarship

Amount: $2,000
Closing Date: November 1, 2021
Description: Scholarship is open to U.S. citizens who are currently attending an accredited college or university in the United States who has served in the United State Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, or Reserves OR is the child or stepchild of someone who has. Applicant must have at least a 3.0 GPA.

C. Lamar Meek Memorial Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to students enrolled in an accredited college or university in the state of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma or Texas who have undertaken an investigation/research/outreach project in the area of medical and veterinary entomology.

Colorado Farm Show Scholarships

Description: Scholarships are open to Colorado graduating high school seniors and current college students who strive to leave a lasting impression on their community and in the agriculture industry.

Exelon HBCU Corporate Scholars Program

Amount: Up to $25,000
Closing Date: November 1, 2021
Description: Scholarship is open to current college freshmen attending a four-year, accredited HBCU. Applicant must be majoring in Business Administration, Business Management, Engineering, Finance Information Technology or Supply Chain Management. Applicant must be a Exelon utility customer located in any of the following targeted markets: Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania.

Funeral Service Foundation Scholarships

Description: Scholarships are open to funeral service students who are enrolled in an ABFSE-Accredited institution for the fall 2021 semester.

H&P Veterans Helping Veterans Scholarships

Description: Scholarship is open to veterans of the armed forces who plan to use their education to help fellow veterans.

Harvey Fellows Program
Sponsor: Mustard Seed Foundation

Description: Program is open to Christian students who are pursuing graduate studies at premier universities in fields considered to be underrepresented by Christians and who possess a unique vision to impact society through their vocations. Past successful applicants were preparing for careers in Business, Economics, Finance, International diplomacy, security, journalism and media, visual and performing arts, public policy, and applied and theoretical sciences. Students from all nations are encouraged to apply.

Jobbins Scholarship
Sponsor: Northeastern Mosquito Control Association
Amount: Up to $3,000

Description: Scholarship is open to current college students in the Northeast who have done work in an area relevant to mosquito, biting fly control or other vectors in the Northeast related to disease transmission.

Jonathan Lax Scholarship for Gay Men

Description: Scholarship is open to gay men who live in the five-county Philadelphia region (Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties) and Camden County, who are attending accredited colleges, graduate or professional schools anywhere, or to men attending such schools within the Philadelphia region.

Marie McKay Global Citizen Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to students who have been accepted into an Athena semester or year-long study abroad program. Applicant must submit an essay that outlines his/her interest in social justice and service programs.

Save the Frogs! Art Contest

Description: Contest is open to anyone, regardless of age, with a talent for art. Applicant must submit a cool frog piece of art.

SIT Scholarships

Description: Scholarship is open to current college students who are applying to a SIT Study Abroad program for the Spring.

South Dakota Opportunity Scholarship
Sponsor: South Dakota Legislature
Amount: $1,300
Closing Date: November 1, 2021
Description: Scholarship is open residents of South Dakota at the time of high school graduation with at least a 24 on the ACT or 1090 on the SAT and who had a cumulative high school GPA of at least 3.0 prior to graduation. Applicant must attend a university, college, or technical school that provides instruction from a campus located in South Dakota. While the final deadline is January 15, it is recommended that the initial scholarship application and transcript be submitted by November 1 when establishing eligibility for the Spring term.

Description: Scholarship is open to current college students who will be studying abroad and have financial need.

Supply Chain Management Education Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to undergraduate students majoring in Supply Chain Management who are either permanent residents or students in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, California, or Illinois.

Vincent I. Benander Learning Scholarship

Closing Date: November 1, 2021
Description: Scholarship is open to students who have been accepted into an Athena semester or year-long study abroad program. Applicant must have junior status or higher and a minimum GPA of 3.5. Student must submit an essay that demonstrates a love of learning.

WOCN Foundation Scholarship Program

Description: Scholarships is open to students seeking education in wound, ostomy and continence nursing care.

Young Writers Awards
Sponsor: Bennington College
Amount: Up to $500
Closing Date: November 1, 2021
Description: Students in the 10th, 11th, and 12th grades can enter in one of the following categories: poetry (a group of three poems), fiction (a short story or one-act play), or nonfiction (a personal or academic essay. All entries must be original work and sponsored by a high school teacher).
