Attending college can be quite expensive for students and their families. Luckily, there are many college scholarships and contests available to help pay for a college education. Students should seek out and apply for scholarships in which they meet the eligibility requirements. Below are a handful of scholarships with January 2021 due dates. MIT THINK Scholars Program

Amount: $1,000 budget, chance to win $500 scholarship, mentorship, and a trip to MIT
Closing Date: January 1, 2021
Description: Applicant must be a current high school student at a school in the United States. Applicant must submit a project proposal on a science, technology or engineering idea.
Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award

Amount: Up to $10,000
Closing Date: January 4, 2021
Description: Award is open to classical instrumentalists, vocalists, and composers between the ages of 8 through high school juniors. This is the second deadline. Deadline III is March 15, 2021.
GE – Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program
Sponsor: Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation & Institute and GE
Amount: $10,000
Closing Date: January 5, 2021
Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors who demonstrate leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship at school, at the workplace, and in the community. Applicant must also demonstrate financial need.
Foot Locker Scholar Athletes Program
Sponsor: Foot Locker Foundation, Inc.
Amount: $20,000
Closing Date: January 8, 2021
Description: Scholarship is open to U.S. students who are currently involved in high school sports, intramural sports, or community-based sports. Applicant must be entering college in fall 2021 as a freshman at a four-year school for an undergraduate degree.
Leaders Save Lives Scholarship Program
Sponsor: American Red Cross
Amount: Up to $2,500
Closing Date: January 15, 2021
Description: Scholarship is open to all high school and college students. Applicant must host an American Red Cross blood drive between December 15, 2020 and January 15, 2021.
Profile in Courage Essay Contest
Sponsor: John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum
Amount: Up to $10,000
Closing Date: January 15, 2021
Description: Contest is open to United States high school students in grades nine through twelve. Applicant must submit an essay on a given topic related to an act of political courage.
Coolidge Scholarship
Sponsor: The Coolidge
Amount: Tuition, room and board, and expenses for four years of undergraduate study
Closing Date: January 20, 2021
Description: Scholarship is open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents who are high school juniors and will enroll full-time at an accredited U.S. college or university as an undergraduate for the first time in fall 2022.
C-SPAN’s StudentCam Documentary Competition
Sponsor: C-SPAN
Amount: Varies
Closing Date: January 20, 2021
Description: Competition is open to students in grades 6-12. Student must create a short documentary video on the following theme: “Explore the issue you most want the president and new Congress to address in 2021.”
Live Mas Scholarship
Sponsor: Taco Bell Foundation
Amount: Up to $25,000
Closing Date: January 20, 2021
Description: Scholarship is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, between 16 and 24 years of age, who are on track to apply for accredited post-high school/post-secondary educational programs or is currently enrolled in college.
Hamilton Award

Closing Date: January 27, 2021
Description: Award is open to high school juniors who are college bound with a strong record of community service and academic achievement. Student must have financial and/or personal need.
Opportunity Scholarship for Locked-Out Dreamers

Amount: Up to $80,000 over four years
Closing Date: January 28, 2021
Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and high school graduates who live in targeted, locked-out states that do not offer in-state tuition to DREAMers, or bars them from attending state colleges and universities all together.
I Have a Dream Scholarship
Sponsor: Unigo
Amount: $1,500
Closing Date: January 31, 2021
Description: Applicant must be 14 years of age or older, be a resident of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia, and be currently enrolled (or enroll no later than the fall of 2027) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education. Applicant must submit a short essay (250 words or less) about a dream.
