There are thousands of scholarships out there. Below you will find many scholarships, most with general eligibility requirements. My goal is to share some lesser-known scholarships with my readers every Saturday.

Description: Scholarship is open to students in 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades and living in the following areas of Texas: Alvin ISD, Clear Creek ISD, Deer Park ISD, Dickinson ISD, Friendswood ISD, Galveston ISD, Hitchcock ISD, LaPorte ISD, Pasadena ISD, Pearland ISD, or Texas City ISD. Courage to Grow Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to juniors and seniors in high school and college students with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Applicant must explain in 250 words or less why they believe they should be awarded the scholarship.

BNSF Railway Foundation Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to high-achieving students from Tarrant County, Texas who are full-time enrolled degree seeking candidates at a UNCF-member institution OR at any other fully accredited U.S. located college or university during the 2019-2020 academic year. Applicant must have at least a 3.0 GPA and have demonstrated unmet need.

Joseph A. Towles African Study Abroad Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to African-American students who will be studying abroad in the 2019-20 academic year within the continent of Africa.

Military Line Student Ethics Scholarship Award

Description: Scholarship is open to Connecticut residents who are high school students or adult learners and are in a military family, which includes being a dependent or spouse. Students and adult learners may apply as early as their junior year of high school or as late as the end of college freshman year.

NEWH | Pittsburgh Chapter Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to currently enrolled college students attending an accredited college in Western Pennsylvania or Eastern Ohio. UNCF/FedEx Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to college freshmen, sophomores and juniors who are enrolled at a Historically Black College or University and have at least a 3.0 GPA. Applicant must have demonstrated, unmet financial need.

Bridging Scholarships

Description: Scholarship is open to undergraduate students majoring in any field of study who will be participating in a study-abroad program in Japan. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen.

Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors who are U.S. citizens and plan to pursue careers in the aerospace fields.

Scholarship for Study Abroad in New Zealand

Description: Scholarship is open to legal U.S. residents of the 50 United States and District of Columbia (except Rhode Island) and Canadian residents who are 18 years of age or older who would like to study abroad in New Zealand. Applicant must write a short essay why they want to study abroad in New Zealand and a creative photo.

YoungArts Competition

Description: Competition is open to students in grades 10-12 who have talent in visual, literary, design or performing arts. There is a $35 application fee, but it can be waived if you meet requirements.

BEA Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to current college juniors, seniors, and graduate students attending a BEA Member institution. Applicant must be studying radio, television, or other electronic media.

BMO Capital Markets Lime Connect Equity Through Education Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to current undergraduate and graduate students in the United States and Canada. The Music Center Spotlight Program

Description: Program is open to Southern California high school students who have talent in Acting, Non-Classical Voice, Classical Voice, Non-Classical Dance, Ballet, Jazz Instrumental and Classical Instrumental. Description: Scholarship is open to full-time students attending an accredited institution in the United States. Applicant must be working toward a career at an electric utility.
