Huddle Against Hunger: Collect 1 Item for a Food Pantry
Scholarship Amount: $2,500
Closing Date: June 15, 2019
About: There are thousands of young people not reaching their true potential on the playing field due to a lack of good nutrition.
How to enter: You could win the scholarship by collecting healthy and non-perishable food items for kids in need. You’ll ensure everyone can have at least one proper meal. Share a picture of you donating food and you’ll be entered to win the scholarship.
Celebrate Pride! Share Tips on How to Show Support to the LGBTQ+ Community!
Scholarship Amount: $2,000
Closing Date: June 30, 2019
About: Around one-third of LGBTQ+ students have skipped school over safety concerns related to bullying or harassment.
How to enter: Share tips on how to show support to the LGBTQ+ community and you’ll be entered to win the scholarship.
Take Back the Prom: Outfit Donations
Scholarship Amount: $2,000
Closing Date: June 30, 2019
About: The average student spends over $1,100 on prom, with one major expense being the outfit.
How to enter: Donate your gently-used prom clothes to a local organization to ensure students from low-income households can have an outfit on prom night. Or, you can even run a drive in your school and/or community to collect these items to be part of the nation’s largest youth-led prom clothing drive.
Take Back the Prom: Submit a Petition or Share your Story
Scholarship Amount: $2,500
Closing Date: June 30, 2019
About: Prom is supposed to be an experience every student can celebrate and cherish. But this year, thousands will face discrimination on the basis of race, sexual orientation, gender identity, body type, ability, income, or even clothing.
How to enter: Submit a petition signature demanding change from schools that still have discriminatory prom policies or share your own story of discrimination at a prom.

Scholarship Amount: $5,000
Closing Date: July 31, 2019
About: During the school year, all students learn at similar rates, but low-income students fall behind by three months’ worth of learning during the summer. This is called “summer slide.”
How to enter: Donate a book to your local library! You’ll improve literacy in your community and you’ll be entered to win the scholarship.
Green Your Getaway: Share a Guide to Help Friends Travel Sustainably!
Scholarship Amount: $5,000
Closing Date: July 31, 2019
About: “Sustainable travel” is all about being a responsible traveler! You want to minimize the harm and work to improve the natural and cultural environments of where you visit.
How to enter: Share DoSomething’s Sustainable Travel Guide on social media or share the guide IRL using a postcard DoSomething will provide. You’ll help others protect the plant and be entered to win the scholarship.
Ride & Seek: Post Flyers to Help Keep Friends and Family Safe on the Road
Scholarship Amount: $5,000
Closing Date: July 31, 2019
About: Seat belts save up to 15,000 lives every year.
How to enter: Print and post flyers with enticing fill-in-the-blanks about road safety. For every flyer you post, you’ll keep friends safe on the road and earn another chance to win the scholarship.
Call for a More Inclusive Definition of “Black” in the Dictionary
Scholarship Amount Amount: $5,000
Closing Date: August 5, 2019
Description: You could win an easy $5,000 scholarship by calling for dictionary sites to create a more accurate, inclusive definition of the word “black.” The word is currently misdefined as things like “dirty” and “evil,” and research shows these definitions fuel real-world prejudice. Dictionary.com has made a commitment to change their outdated definition to reflect a more positive representation of the word Black. Include other dictionaries in the conversation to follow Dictionary.com’s lead to update their definition of “Black.” Other dictionaries you can include in your tweet: @MerriamWebster, @OxfordWords, @CollinsDict, and other popular dictionary sites (DoSomething will provide sample text). Pick Up Litter in a Local Park or Community Space
Scholarship Amount: $5,000
Closing Date: September 15, 2019
How to enter: You could win the scholarship just by picking up trash or litter in a local park, beach, community space, or another place people get out and play! Just send in a photo of the litter you pick up. You’ll protect the environment, create better places to play, and be entered to win the scholarship.
Eligibility Information
While there is no GPA, test score, or essay requirements, there are some eligibility requirements students must meet to enter any of the above scholarship opportunities:
- US or Canadian citizens, regardless of residence OR reside in the U.S. or Canada.
- 13 to 25 years of age.
