Scholarship Saturday – June 1, 2019

There are thousands of scholarships out there. Below you will find many scholarships, most with general eligibility requirements. My goal is to share some lesser-known scholarships with my readers every Saturday.

Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors who have a significant disability of any kind (physical, visual, development, cognitive, hearing, learning, emotional, or other). Applicant must live in Washtenaw, Livingston, or Monroe County, Michigan.

School’s Out Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to students in 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades and living in the following areas of Texas: Alvin ISD, Clear Creek ISD, Deer Park ISD, Dickinson ISD, Friendswood ISD, Galveston ISD, Hitchcock ISD, LaPorte ISD, Pasadena ISD, Pearland ISD, or Texas City ISD. Applicant must submit an essay on their favorite part of this school year.

WCB Scholarships

Description: Scholarship is open to blind students who are accepted or enrolled in college or vocational/technical school students and are residents of Washington State. Applicant must be legally blind in both eyes.

TMCF | Walmart Foundation First -Generation Scholars Mentorship
Sponsor: TMCF | Walmart Foundation
Amount: $250 per semester
Closing Date: June 16, 2019
Description: Scholarship is open to first-generation college students who are graduating seniors/incoming college freshmen. Applicant must be accepted to and prepared to attend one of the TMCF’s 47 member schools.

Osage Nation Higher Education Scholarships

Description: Scholarship is open to legally enrolled members of the Osage nation interested in pursuing post-secondary education at the associate level or beyond.

Charlotte Pride Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors and current college students from the Charlotte metro area (see website for map) with a GPA of 2.8 or above. Applicant must be LGBTQ or a Straight Ally student who has demonstrated service to the LGBTQ community or desire to serve the LGBT community.

Golden Key Scholarships and Awards

Description: Awards are open to Golden Key members who are current undergraduate or graduate students, or graduates and alumni. In addition to the general scholarships, there is a specific scholarship for students who will be studying abroad.

Ocean Awareness Student Contest

Amount: Up to $1,500
Closing Date: June 17, 2019
Description: Contest is open to middle and high school students from around the world between the ages of 11 and 18 years of age. Applicant must focus on this year theme of “Presence of Future” and submit a piece of art, poetry, prose, film or music on this year’s theme. In addition to the general contest, there is a hometown award open to students from Boston, Massachusetts.

Student Teacher Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to student teachers intending to teach in the Hawaii State Department of Education and who are enrolled in a State Approved Teacher Education Program as a full-time undergraduate or post baccalaureate candidate in any state-approved or nationally accredited institution of higher learning in the 2019-2020 academic year.

Husband and Wife Law Team Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and current college students who are U.S. Citizens, permanent residents, or DACA recipients. Applicant must submit an essay on how they intend to use what they learn in college, no matter what field they end of working in.

WIA Foundation Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to female students of any citizenship or nationality who are rising college juniors or seniors and have an interest in a career in the aerospace field and pursuing a higher education degree in engineering, math, or science.

Diabetes Council Scholarship Program

Jim Dodson Law Scholarship for Brain Injury Victims & Their Caregivers

Description: Scholarship is open to brain injury victims and their caregivers who are incoming or currently enrolled in a four-year college with at least a 2.75 GPA.

MYFA Scholarships

Description: Scholarships are open to high school juniors who are current or former Metro Youth Tackle Football (MYTF) participants. Applicant must be a current high school football player who has a GPA or 2.5 or higher and have plans to pursue post-secondary education.

Excellence in Character Scholarship

Description: Scholarships are open to graduating high school seniors attending high school in Dallas or Tarrant Counties in the state of Texas. Applicant must have a strong record of service in the community, participate in extracurricular school activities, a minimum GPA of 3.0, and a family annual income under $50,000.

Freedom of Religion Foundation Catherine Fahringer Memorial Award

Description: Scholarship is open to students 16 years of age and older who are graduating high school seniors and current college students in the United States with at least a 3.0 GPA.
