There are thousands of scholarships out there. Below you will find many scholarships, most with general eligibility requirements. My goal is to share some lesser-known scholarships with my readers every Saturday.

Description: Scholarship is open to high school and college students in the United States who are/will be enrolled in college within the next 12 months. Applicant must create a Cappex profile (if they don’t have one already), share about their extracurricular activities, leadership, and volunteer activities, and then search Cappex for scholarships.

SunTrust Scholarship Sweepstakes
Sponsor: SunTrust
Amount: $500
Closing Date: January 4, 2019
Description: Sweepstakes is open to high school seniors and college undergraduates with permanent residence in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, or the District of Columbia. Students can enter online or by mail once during each two week drawing period.

ACEC California Scholarship
Sponsor: American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) California
Amount: Up to $7,000
Closing Date: January 16, 2019
Description: Scholarship is open to California undergraduate (junior or senior status) and graduate students who will be enrolled in an engineering or land-surveying curriculum approved by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) during the Fall of 2019.

Diversity Advancement Scholarship

Closing Date: January 16, 2019
Description: Scholarship is open to high school and undergraduate minority students who are entering, enrolled in, or transferring into a NAAB-accredited undergraduate architecture program.

Payette Sho-Ping Chin Memorial Academic Scholarship
Sponsor: The American Institute of Architects
Amount: $10,000
Closing Date: January 16, 2019
Description: Scholarship is open to women studying architecture within a NAAB accredited bachelor or master’s degree program. Applicant must be entering at least their third year of undergraduate or any level of graduate study.

Transcend Photo Essay Contest
Sponsor: Direct Textbook
Amount: $500
Closing Date: January 16, 2019
Description: Scholarship is open to current undergraduate and graduate students who have at least a 2.0 GPA. Applicant must submit a short form and a photo that captures the theme “Transcend.”

Agricultural Scholarships
Sponsor: California Table Grape Commission
Amount: Up to $20,000
Closing Date: January 18, 2019
Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors graduating in 2019 or high school graduates who are residents in the Coachella or Joaquin Valleys and are planning to enroll in a California university with a declared major tied to the future in the California table grape industry.

Baer Reintegration Scholarship
Sponsor: The Center for Reintegration
Amount: Varies
Closing Date: January 18, 2019
Description: Scholarship is open to incoming and current college students who will be attending during the 2019-2020 academic year and have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder.

CESDA Scholarships
Sponsor: Colorado Educational Services & Development Association
Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: January 18, 2019
Description: Scholarship is open to Colorado graduating high school seniors who identify as a student of color, first generation college student, and/or a student with financial need. Applicant must enroll at a two or four-year Colorado college or university in the Fall and applicant must have a cumulative high school GPA of at least 2.8.

Coladarci and Ehlers Arts Scholarships

Amount: Up to $5,000
Closing Date: January 18, 2019
Description: Scholarships are open to graduating high school seniors who are currently attending public, private, or parochial school in New Jersey. Applicant must be a Morris County residents who plans to pursue post-secondary studies at an accredited institution or acknowledged arts school or fine arts program.

Colvin Scholarship
Sponsor: Certified Angus Beef
Amount: Up to $6,500
Closing Date: January 18, 2019
Description: Scholarships are open to undergraduate and graduate students who have demonstrated commitment to the beef industry through pursuit of a meat science, food science, animal science, marketing, business, communications, journalism, or other degree related to the beef industry through activity and curriculum.

Elie Wiesel Prize in Ethics Essay Contest
Sponsor: Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity
Amount: Up to $5,000
Closing Date: January 18, 2019
Description: Contest is open to registered undergraduate full-time juniors and seniors at accredited four-year colleges and universities in the United States. Applicant must submit an essay on a given topic related to an ethical issue.

GFOA Scholarships
Sponsor: Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA)
Amount: Varies
Closing Date: January 18, 2019
Description: Scholarships are open to students who plan to pursue a career in state/provincial or local government finance. Multiple scholarships available with different requirements. See website for details. In addition to the general scholarship, there is a scholarship specifically to minority students.

Mike Reynolds Scholarship
Sponsor: Radio Television Digital News Foundation
Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: January 18, 2019
Description: Scholarship is open to students who will be college sophomores, juniors, or seniors at the time the scholarship is awarded and are pursuing careers in radio, television, or digital journalism.

Profile in Courage Essay Contest
Sponsor: John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum
Amount: Up to $10,000
Closing Date: January 18, 2019
Description: Contest is open to United States high school students in grades nine through twelve. Applicant must submit an essay on a given topic related to an act of political courage.
