Scholarship Saturday – March 3, 2018

There are thousands of scholarships out there. Below you will find many scholarships, most with general eligibility requirements. My goal is to share some lesser-known scholarships with my readers every Saturday.

Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors of African descent who plan to attend a four-year college or university in the fall. Applicant must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, computer information systems or select business programs. Applicant must demonstrate a passion for technology, demonstrate leadership, and have at least a 3.3 GPA.

Oracle Academy Scholarship

Closing Date: March 15, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to African-American sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students with at least a 3.5 GPA. Applicant must be majoring in Computer Science or Engineering.

Varsity Tutors College Scholarship Contest

Closing Date: March 15, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are 16 years of age or older. Applicant must describe how they would explain the importance of continued learning to a second grade student.

West Virginia Pumpkin Festival Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to West Virginia graduating high school seniors entering a Public West Virginia college or university in the fall.

Young Christian Leaders Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors and current college students who are permanent residents of New York, New Jersey or Connecticut. Applicant must be an attending, active member of their local church.

Alexander Foundation Scholarships

Description: Scholarships are open to LGBTQIA+ students in Colorado who are seeking an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited institution in the State of Colorado.

Carl Tapp Technician Scholarship

Closing Date: March 16, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to Arkansas high school seniors. Applicant must be planning to enter a two semester diesel program from a school in the state of Arkansas.

Cooper Industries Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to current undergraduate students who are majoring in engineering or business and have at least a 2.75 GPA.

disABLEDperson, Inc. National Scholarship Competition

Closing Date: March 16, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to students with disabilities who are enrolled in a two or four-year college or university in the United States. Student must submit an essay on the topic of the Social Security Disability Income Program.

Diverse Minds Writing Challenge
Sponsor: B’nai B’rith International
Amount: $5,000
Closing Date: March 16, 2018
Description: Contest is open to high school students currently enrolled in grades 9-12 in the listed contest cities/regions who have not previously published an original manuscript for profit. Applicant must live in the Washington, DC Metro Area, Atlantic City Electric Region (Southern New Jersey), or the Delmarva Peninsula (Delaware or Maryland). Applicant must submit a story (no more than 24 pages) that children can identify with and relate to, alongside of illustrations that are thoughtful, beautiful, and relatable.
