Attending college can be quite expensive for students and their families. Luckily, there are many college scholarships and contests available to help pay for a college education. Students should seek out and apply for scholarships in which they meet the eligibility requirements. Below are a handful of scholarships with February 2017 due dates. Check out the full list of February Scholarships – there are currently just under 200 scholarships on the list! More scholarships will be added as they become available.

Only brief information about each scholarship is listed. Therefore, students are encouraged to visit the scholarship websites to get further details about eligibility and requirements.

EngineerGirl Essay Contest
Sponsor: EngineerGirl
Amount: Up to $500
Closing Date: February 1, 2017
Description: Essay contest is open to girls and boys in grades 3-12. Applicant must submit an essay on a given topic related to working as an engineer.

Jennifer Dean Community Scholarship
Sponsor: Rancho Santa Fe Cosmetic & Family Dentistry
Amount: $500
Closing Date: February 1, 2017
Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors and current college students in the United States. Applicant must submit an essay or video sharing how they are having a positive impact on their community or those around them.

Drive2Life Contest
Sponsor: Scholastic Inc.
Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: February 3, 2017
Description: Contest is open to students in grades 6-12. Contestant must create a storyboard or written script for a 30-second public service announcement (PSA) to help prevent distracted walking.

ExploraVision Science Competition
Sponsor: Toshiba/NSTA
Amount: Up to $10,000
Closing Date: February 6, 2017
Description: Competition is open to students in grades K through 12. Students must work in groups of 2-4 and select a technology that is present in the home, school, and/or community and explore what the technology does, how it works, and how or why it was invented.

Courageous Persuaders Video Contest
Sponsor: Detroit Auto Dealers Association
Amount: Up to $3,000
Closing Date: February 9, 2017
Description: Contest is open to high school students in grades 9-12. Student must create a commercial targeted at middle school students to warn them about the dangers of underage drinking or texting while driving. Contest is open to students throughout the United States, but there is also a contest specifically open to students in Michigan.

Scholars Helping Collars Scholarship
Sponsor: Pets Lifestyle and You (P.L.A.Y.) Inc.
Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: February 15, 2017
Description: Scholarship is open to U.S. residents who are enrolled as full-time high school seniors. Applicant must submit 2-3 photos of their volunteer efforts to help animals in need and an essay that explains how their involvement has changed their lives or shaped their perception on the importance of animal welfare.

ASMF “Sleep Recharges You” High School Video Contest
Sponsor: American Sleep Medicine Foundation
Amount: $500
Closing Date: February 20, 2017
Description: Contest is open to any individual who is enrolled in high school in the United States at the time of entry. Applicant must create a video between 30 seconds and two minutes on the importance of sleep in their lives.

Student Video Contest
Sponsor: World of 7 Billion
Amount: Up to $1,000
Closing Date: February 23, 2017
Description: Contest is open to students in grades 6-12 worldwide. Applicant must create a short video (up to 60 seconds) about the human population growth that highlights one of the given global challenges.

The Christophers’ Poster Contest for High School Students
Sponsor: The Christophers
Amount: Up to $1,000
Closing Date: February 27, 2017
Description: Contest is open to students in grades nine through twelve. Contestant must create an original poster based on the theme, “One Person Can Make a Difference.”

Sweet & Simple Scholarship
Sponsor: Unigo
Amount: $1,500
Closing Date: February 28, 2017
Description: Applicant must be 13 years of age or older, be a resident of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia, and be currently enrolled (or enroll no later than the fall of 2023) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education. Applicant must submit a short written response about a gift they have received.
