Attending college can be quite expensive for students and their families. Luckily, there are many college scholarships and contests available to help pay for a college education. Students should seek out and apply for scholarships in which they meet the eligibility requirements. Below are a handful of scholarships with August 2016 deadlines. 2016 Creative Outlook Cover Contest
Sponsor: Townsend Communications, Inc.
Amount: $250
Deadline: August 1, 2016
Description: Contest is open to current college level students, as well as high school students. Contestant must submit an original piece of art.

Hansen Injury Law Firm Scholarship
Sponsor: Hansen Injury Law Firm
Amount: $1,000
Deadline: August 1, 2016
Description: Scholarship is open to students currently enrolled or have been accepted to a college or university in the United States. Scholarship is for students whose lives have been negatively impacted by a car crash, bicycle accident or other events leading to personal injuries.

Youth Forward Scholarship
Sponsor: National Driving and Traffic School
Amount: $1,500
Deadline: August 1, 2016
Description: Scholarship is open to current high school and college students. Applicant must submit an essay on a topic related to volunteerism.

Building Strong Foundations Scholarship
Sponsor: Olshan Foundation Solutions
Amount: $1,000
Deadline: August 12, 2016
Description: Scholarship is open to U.S. students who are 16 years of age or older who are high school, undergraduate, master degree, or adult students. Applicant must submit application, personal essay, and a short video.

Fitness Fixation Annual Scholarship
Sponsor: Fitness Fixation
Amount: $500
Deadline: August 15, 2016
Description: Scholarship is open to students currently enrolled in a college, university, high school or trade school. Students currently studying in the areas of Health, Fitness and Sports Science may be extremely interested in the scholarship, and although taking a course in these specific areas is not a necessity, a passion for health and fitness is a must.

1000 Dreams Scholarship
Sponsor: 1,000 Dreams Fund
Amount: Up to $1,000
Deadline: August 30, 2016
Description: Scholarship is open to high school and college women who can demonstrate financial need. Applicant will need to submit a completed application and at least one letter of recommendation.

ExpressVPN Future of Privacy Scholarship
Sponsor: ExpressVPN
Amount: Up to $2,500
Deadline: August 31, 2016
Description: Scholarship is open to students enrolled in a high school, undergraduate school, or graduate school located in the United States. There is no age or citizenship requirement. Applicant must submit an essay on one of three given topics related to privacy.

Family Rentals “Create Your Ideal Event” Scholarship

Amount: $1,000
Deadline: August 31, 2016
Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors and any student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program by August 31, 2016 at any accredited U.S. college, university or institute. Applicant must submit an essay on a given topic related to the future of event planning.

Leaders Save Lives Scholarship Program
Sponsor: American Red Cross
Amount: Up to $2,500
Deadline: August 31, 2016
Description: Scholarship is open to all high school and college students. Applicant must host an American Red Cross blood drive between June 1 and August 31, 2016.

Make Me Laugh Scholarship
Sponsor: Unigo
Amount: $1,500
Deadline: August 31, 2016
Description: Scholarship is open to students 13 years of age or older who are legal residents of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia and are currently enrolled (or will enroll no later than the fall of 2022) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education. Applicant will need to submit a short response to a given prompt.

Student Transportation Video Contest
Sponsor: American Road & Transportation Builders Association
Amount: $500
Deadline: August 31, 2016
Description: Contest is open to students in elementary school through graduate school. Contestant must submit a video on transportation infrastructure.
