There are thousands of scholarships out there. Some are large scholarships that are well publicized, while others are lesser known. My goal is to share some lesser-known scholarships with my readers every Saturday.

Description: According to sources, “In 2012, over 400,000 people were in a car accident caused by a distracted driver.” Applicant must share and play a text-message game about distracted driving. By playing and sharing with three friends, applicant will gain an entry to win the scholarship.

Treat Your Friends to Fun Activities Scholarship

Amount: $3,000
Deadline: Nov. 30, 2015
Description: According to sources, “depression is the top cause of illness and disability during adolescence.” Applicant must sign up at the website to receive printable IOU coupons filled with fun things to do and and then give them to friends. Applicant must submit a photo of themselves with the IOU book to get an entry for the scholarship.

Bottar Leone Scholarship
Sponsor: Bottar Leone Attorneys
Amount: $2,500
Deadline: Dec. 1, 2015
Description: Scholarship is open to high school graduates who are currently enrolled full-time at an accredited two-year or four-year university or community college in the United States with at least a 3.0 GPA. Applicant must have a documented physical or learning disability (students with ADD/ADHD alone are not eligible) and have demonstrated financial need.

Bruning Legal Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to current college students, as well as those planning on starting college next fall. Applicant must submit an essay on a given prompt related to driverless vehicles.

Chuan Ai Lu Engstrom Memorial Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to current, full-time students at an accredited American university or college with a minimum GPA of at least 2.5. Applicant must submit an essay on a given topic related to the global economy.

Description: Scholarship is open to students enrolled at an accredited high school, college, or university with a 2.8 GPA or higher. Applicant must submit an essay on how they are driven to innovate.

Description: Scholarship is open to students enrolled full or part-time at an accredited university during the 2015-2016 school year. Applicant must have plans to start an online business after (or during) their education.

FRA Americanism Essay Contest

Description: Contest is open to students in grades seven through 12 (or equivalent). Applicant must be sponsored by a branch of the Fleet Reserve Association or a unit of the Ladies Auxiliary. Applicant must submit an essay on the theme, “What the United States Flag Stands For.”

Giva Corporate Student Scholarship and Worldwide Community Ambassador Award

Description: Scholarship is open to current college students and anyone planning on attending college (or another form of higher education) in the upcoming school year. Applicant must create a form of social awareness that inspires students to focus on Looking Twice for Motorcycle Safety.

Medical Malpractice Lawyer Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to students who are enrolled or accepted into an accredited post high school education with at least a 3.0 GPA. Applicant must also have been affected by Medical Malpractice either personally or through a close relation.

Description: Contest is open to all students enrolled, or who will be enrolled, in an elementary, junior high or high school during the 2015-2016 academic year, including homeschooled students in an equivalent grade level. Description: Scholarship is open to legal residents of the United States who will be at least 18 years of age at time of award and currently enrolled in a college or university in the United States. Applicant must submit an essay on one of the given topics related to vehicle accidents.
