There are thousands of scholarships out there. Some are large scholarships that are well publicized, while others are lesser known. My goal is to share some lesser-known scholarships with my readers every Saturday.

Description: Scholarship is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are at least 13 years of age. Applicant must ask a teacher to complete the following phrase: “Teen acne ends. You know what doesn’t? ______________” Applicant must take a photo of the teacher and the completed phrase.

ADCI Scholarship
Sponsor: Association of Diving Contractors International
Amount: $4,000
Deadline: Oct. 30, 2015
Description: Scholarship is open to students who have been accepted to an institution of higher education. Applicant must be nominated by a member company of ADCI.

One Star for Hate Scholarship

Amount: $3,000
Deadline: Oct. 31, 2015
Description: According to sources, “Halloween costumes, like “Arab “Sheik” perpetuate cultural stereotypes.” Applicant should use the provided list of culturally appropriative costumes and leave an online review of the costume.

Quote of a Champion’s Scholarship
Sponsor: Do Something
Amount: $5,000
Deadline: Oct. 31, 2015
Description: According to sources, “low self-esteem is related to self-injury, negative body image, and depression.” Applicant must place sticky notes with positive quotes (list of quotes available on website) in places where people need positivity the most.

2015 Adopt A Veteran Scholarship
Sponsor: Joe Foss Institute
Amount: Up to $5,000
Deadline: Nov. 15, 2015
Description: Scholarship is open to U.S. citizens of all national backgrounds who are currently studying in the United States or in an American military school out of the country. Applicant must be in 11th or 12th grade. Applicant must find a military veteran they do not know, get to know them, and then write an essay about the experience.

Advancement of Women in Sports & Entertainment Scholarship
Sponsor: The Floyd Mayweather Jr. Foundation
Amount: $1,000
Deadline: Nov. 15, 2015
Description: Scholarship is open to female undergraduate students who are majoring in Public Relations, Communication, Media Studies, Marketing or Journalism. Applicant must be a legal resident of the United States and have a desire to work in the entertainment or sports industry.

American Indian Services Scholarship
Sponsor: American Indian Services (AIS)
Deadline: Nov. 15, 2015
Description: Applicant must be one-quarter (1/4) Northern-Native American Indian and enrolled in a university, junior college, or technical school.

Bill Kane Undergraduate Scholarship
Sponsor: Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE)
Amount: $1,000
Deadline: Nov. 15, 2015
Description: Scholarship is open to undergraduate health education majors at an accredited college or university in the United States or a U.S. territory.

College Moving Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to current college students who have moved out-of-state to attend college.

Cooley Scholarship, Masters Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to master’s level students who are currently enrolled in a health education program at an accredited college or university in the United States or a U.S. territory.

Delphix Technology Scholarship for Women

Description: Scholarship is open to individuals who identify as a woman and will be enrolled in college full-time in calendar year 2016. Applicant must be pursuing a technical degree like computer science, information technology, applied mathematics, electrical engineering, etc.

Distracted Driver Awareness Scholarship
Sponsor: Law Office of Neil Burns
Amount: $1,000
Deadline: Nov. 15, 2015
Description: Scholarship is open to any person in the United States seeking post-secondary education. Applicant must submit an essay on a given topic related to distracted driving.

Frederick J. Krause Scholarship on Health and Disability
Sponsor: American Association on Health and Disability
Amount: $1,000
Deadline: Nov. 15, 2015
Description: Scholarship is open to students enrolled full-time as an undergraduate student in a program in college or university pursing an undergraduate degree, or enrolled part-time or full-time in a graduate program, pursuing a post graduate degree. Applicant must have a disability. Preference is given to students majoring in a field related to disability and health.

James Alan Cox Foundation Scholarships
Sponsor: James Alan Cox Foundation for Student Photojournalists
Amount: $2,500 for college students and digital camera for high school students
Deadline: Nov. 15, 2015
Description: Scholarship is open to student photographers of high school and college age.

Soroptimist Live Your Dream Awards

Description: Award is open to women who provide the primary support for themselves and their dependents. Applicant must be enrolled in or has been accepted to a vocational/skill training program or an undergraduate degree program.

Zumper Apartments Scholarship

Deadline: Nov. 15, 2015
Description: Scholarship is open to legal U.S. residents who will be attending an accredited university or college in Fall 2015. Applicant must submit a short piece of writing that includes how the applicant has impacted their student body or community and information about housing near their school.
