It is common to hear news stories about mayors and other political figures placing friendly bets on sporting events. However, chancellors at two leading research universities announced yesterday they have made a friendly wager on the World Series between the San Francisco Giants and the Kansas City Royals. UC San Francisco (UCSF) Chancellor Sam Hawgood and University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) Chancellor Leo E. Morton are betting their cities will win the pennant.
