Description: Scholarship is open to students facing economic hardship, such as change in family income/support, loss of job, death of an immediate family member, natural disaster, pending eviction or home foreclosure, burglary or fire. Applicant must be a resident of California, Florida, Missouri, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, or Texas and enrolled full-time in an accredited college or university with at least a 3.0 GPA.

Sheriff’s Association of Texas Youth Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to sons, daughters, and grandchildren of sheriffs, former sheriffs, sheriff’s office employees or peace officers in the state of Texas who are currently enrolled in college.

Description: Award is open to Latino high school seniors who excel both inside and outside the classroom, who have at least a 3.0 GPA and are Permanent residents, DACA, U.S. Citizens, or eligible non-citizens. Applicants must be from the Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Northern California, Phoenix, or Washington, DC areas.

NEWH | Houston Chapter Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to students attending an accredited college in Arkansas, Louisiana, or Southern Texas. Applicant must have completed at least half the requirements for a degree and must be pursuing a career objective in the Hospitality industry (Hotel/Restaurant management, Culinary, Food Service, Architecture, Design, etc.)

National Rice Month Scholarship

Amount: Up to $4,000

Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors in rice-growing states (Arkansas, California, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Texas). Applicant must create a video about U.S. rice, National Rice Month, and the importance of rice to their state.

AANAPISI Scholarship Program

Description: Scholarship is open to students who will be enrolled full-time in a degree-seeking program in the 2019 Spring semester/quarter at specific institutions located in California, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Texas, Washington, Guam or American Samoa (see website for details).

C. Lamar Meek Memorial Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to students enrolled in an accredited college or university in the state of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma or Texas who have undertaken an investigation/research/outreach project in the area of medical and veterinary entomology.

Hagan Scholarships

Description: Scholarships are open to graduating high school seniors with at least a 3.5 GPA and from a rural area (a county with less than 50,000 people). Applicant must live in an eligible state (see website for details – Middle America) and demonstrate financial need.

Hot Sauce Depot Texas Scholars Program

Description: Scholarship is open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents who are currently accepted to or enrolled in an accredited Texas university, college, or technical school. Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. Applicant must submit an application and an essay on a given topic related to suicide prevention.

Description: Scholarship is open to students in 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades and living in the following areas of Texas: Alvin ISD, Clear Creek ISD, Deer Park ISD, Dickinson ISD, Friendswood ISD, Galveston ISD, Hitchcock ISD, LaPorte ISD, Pasadena ISD, Pearland ISD, or Texas City ISD. Applicant must submit an essay on a given topic related Veterans Day or how you celebrate the Thanksgiving and your favorite family traditions.

Description: Scholarship is open to Texas high school students in grades 9 through 12. Applicant must submit a video that portrays positive ways Texas can help keep our air clean, keep our water clean, conserve water, save energy, or reduce waste.

Description: Scholarships are open to students majoring in programs that lead to careers in manufacturing. In addition to the general scholarships, there is a scholarship open specifically to students attending universities in the state of Texas.

Celebrate the West High School Art Competition

Description: Competition is open to high school students (grades 9-12) in public, private, charter, and alternative schools. Home-schooled students in that age group also may enter. Student must be in a school in a WGA member state: Alaska, American Samoa, Arizona, California, Colorado, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Northern Mariana Islands, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. Applicant must submit a two-dimensional art piece on what their state means to them.
