Scholarships for students Maine. Some scholarships specifically open to Maine students, and others give preference to students in Maine.

Geiger Scholarship

Description: Scholarships are open to students in 6th grade or above who have Island residency on one of Maine’s 15 year-round, un-bridged islands. Middle school scholarships are for students attending off-island enrichment or travel programs, including summer camps. High school scholarships are for students attending a semester enrichment program or attending an off-island summer camp, travel, or enrichment program. College scholarships are for semester or summer study abroad programs. There is also a scholarship for students enrolled in a gap year program between high school and post-secondary education.

Believe and Achieve Scholarship Program

Closing Date: December 4, 2017
Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors and recipients of a GED certificate up to the age of 25 who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate studies as a first year student in the fall of 2018. Applicant must have at least a 3.0 GPA and reside within a 30 mile radius of a Cumberland Farms retail location.

GCFM Scholarships

Description: Scholarships are open to current college students who are legal residents of Maine and majoring in Horticulture, Floriculture, Landscape Design, Conservation, Forestry, Botany, Agronomy, Plant Pathology, Environmental Concerns, Ecology, Land Management and other garden-related fields.

Roothbert Fund Scholarships
Sponsor: The Roothbert Fund
Amount: Up to $3,000
Closing Date: February 1, 2018
Description: Scholarships are open to incoming and current college students from Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Delaware, Maryland, District of Columbia, Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina. Scholarships are open to students in the United States regardless of sex, age, color, nationality or religious background, but it does seek to provide support to persons motivated by spiritual values. Finalists will be invited for a brief in-person interview usually in New York, New Haven, Philadelphia and Washington, DC (travel costs not paid for by organization).

Women in Ag Scholarships

Description: Scholarship is open to female students pursuing a two- or four-year degree in the field of agriculture. Applicant must be a resident of a state where Mahindra does business (see website for details).

Clauder Competition
Sponsor: Portland Stage
Amount: Up to $3,000
Closing Date: March 1, 2018
Description: Competition is open to playwrights who live or attend school in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island or Vermont. Applicant must submit an original, full-length script with a running time between one and three hours.

Maude MacKenzie Scholarship
Sponsor: Maine Federation of Women’s Clubs

Closing Date: April 1, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors from Maine who has been accepted by a college or university. Criteria for selection will include academic average, leadership, and service in school and community.

NEWWA Scholarships
Sponsor: New England Water Works Association
Amount: Varies
Closing Date: April 1, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to incoming and current undergraduate and graduate students who reside in New England or attend a college/university in New England. Applicant must be majoring in civil engineering or environmental engineering and be a member of NEWWA.

Children and Youth Scholarships

Description: Scholarship is open to residents of Maine who are graduating high school seniors or current college students. Applicant must be able to demonstrate financial need.

Daniel E. Lambert Memorial Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to incoming and current college students who are residents of Maine and have a parent or grandparent who is a veteran.

James V. Day Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to rising high school seniors and current undergraduate college students who are members of the East Coast surfing community.

Maine Osteopathic Association Scholarship Program

Description: Scholarship is open to residents of Maine who are able to present proof of enrollment at an approved osteopathic college.
