Veterinary Scholarships

For some students, their love of animals has crossed into their educational career. The follow scholarships are open to pre-vet and veterinary medicine students.

National DHIA Scholarship for Veterinary Students
Sponsor: National DHIA
Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: November 30, 2017
Description: Scholarship is open to students enrolled in a college of veterinary medicine in the United States which is accredited by the AVMA Council on Education. Applicant must be in their third or fourth year of the program and must have a declared a track or emphasis area.

AQHA Scholarships
Sponsor: American Quarter Horse Association
Amount: Varies
Closing Date: December 1, 2017
Description: Scholarship is open to incoming and current college students who are AQHA members. In addition to general scholarships, there are scholarships open to students studying veterinary medicine.

Alabama Horse Council Scholarships
Sponsor: Alabama Horse Council
Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: December 30, 2017
Description: Scholarship is open to outstanding youth in Alabama who are majoring in a field of study preparing them for a career in the equine industry. Applicant or applicant’s parent must be a current member of the Alabama Horse Council in good standing.

Animal Compassion Undergraduate Scholarship Award

Amount: $500
Closing Date: December 31, 2017
Description: Scholarship is open to veterinary undergraduate students enrolled in a degree program at an accredited institution. Applicant must have plans to pursue graduate studies in veterinary medicine and proven history of animal advocacy.

Empathy for Animals (EFA) Scholarship Award for Veterinary Students
Sponsor: Pet Life Today
Amount: $500
Closing Date: December 31, 2017
Description: Scholarship is open to students enrolled in veterinary studies, animal sciences or a similar undergraduate program at an accredited university. Applicant must have at least a 3.0 GPA, proven history of advocacy for animals, and demonstrated financial need.

Merck Animal Health Veterinary Student Scholarship Program

Amount: $5,000
Closing Date: December 31, 2017
Description: Scholarship is open to students currently enrolled and in good standing at an AVMA accredited school of veterinary medicine in the United States in either their 2nd or 3rd year.

Veterinary Student Scholarship Award

Description: Scholarship is open to all active students currently enrolled in an accredited veterinary college in the United States.

Dr. Joseph and Sonya Landholm Scholarship
Sponsor: Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA)
Amount: $4,500
Closing Date: January 1, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to veterinary students originally from Nebraska or from Nebraska licensed practitioners who are NVMA members.

2nd Opportunity Research Scholarship
Sponsor: American Veterinary Medical Foundation
Amount: $5,000
Closing Date: January 12, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to veterinary students who have previously conducted a summer research project and are seeking to gain a second summer of research experience.

AAEP Winner’s Circle Scholarship

Amount: Up to $1,500
Closing Date: January 15, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to National AAEP student members who are active within their school’s AAEP chapter. Applicant must be currently attending an AVMA Accredited College of Veterinary Medicine.

TSCRF Scholarship
Sponsor: Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Foundation (TSCRF)
Amount: At least $2,000
Closing Date: January 22, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to students who are accepted or enrolled at an accredited university in Texas or Oklahoma with plans to pursue a degree program in agriculture or an agriculture-related program (Animal Science, Pre-Vet, Agribusiness, Range Management or Wildlife).

Pre-Veterinary Scholarships
Sponsor: Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association
Amount: Minimum of $500
Closing Date: March 15, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to students who have completed three semesters of pre-veterinary education and are pursuing completion of the pre-professional program. Applicant must be a graduate of a Nebraska High School or State of Nebraska approved Home School Program.
