Veterinary Scholarships

For some students, their love of animals has crossed into their educational career. The follow scholarships are open to pre-vet and veterinary medicine students.

4-H Youth In Action Awards

Amount: $5,000
Closing Date: October 22, 2018
Description: Award is open to 4-H members/recent alums who are between the ages of 16 and 19 years of age.

Alabama Cattlemen’s Foundation Scholarships
Sponsor: Alabama Cattlemen’s Foundation
Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: November 1, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to incoming college freshmen at four-year colleges and universities who are members of the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association or a child or grandchild of a member.

C. Lamar Meek Memorial Scholarship
Sponsor: Louisiana Mosquito Control Association
Amount: $1,500
Closing Date: November 1, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to students enrolled in an accredited college or university in the state of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma or Texas who have undertaken an investigation/research/outreach project in the area of medical and veterinary entomology.

National DHIA Scholarship for Veterinary Students

Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: November 30, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to students enrolled in a college of veterinary medicine in the United States which is accredited by the AVMA Council on Education. Applicant must be in their third or fourth year of the program and must have a declared a track or emphasis.

AQHA Scholarships
Sponsor: American Quarter Horse Association

Closing Date: December 1, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to incoming and current college students who are AQHA members. In addition to general scholarships, there are scholarships open to students studying veterinary medicine.

Empathy for Animals (EFA) Scholarship Award for Veterinary Students
Sponsor: Pet Life Today
Amount: $500
Closing Date: December 31, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to students enrolled in pre-veterinary studies, animal sciences or a similar undergraduate program at an accredited university. Applicant must have at least a 3.0 GPA, proven history of advocacy for animals, and demonstrated financial need.

Minority Students in Veterinary Medicine Scholarship
Sponsor: 365 Pet Insurance
Amount: $500
Closing Date: December 31, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to students currently enrolled or accepted to a veterinary school in the United States for Spring 2019 or Fall 2019. Applicant must be of Hispanic, African-American, Native American, Pacific Islander, or other minority designation.

Dr. Joseph and Sonya Landholm Scholarship
Sponsor: Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA)
Amount: $4,500
Closing Date: January 1, 2019
Description: Scholarship is open to veterinary students originally from Nebraska or from Nebraska licensed practitioners who are NVMA members.
