Scholarships open to students majoring in Communications, Journalism, Broadcasting, Public Relations, and other related majors.

Jeanne L. Hammond Memorial Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to female Maine residents who will graduate or have graduated from high school and who will enroll in an accredited college or school for post-secondary education this year. Applicant must have demonstrated financial need. Primary consideration will be given to those with dedicated school and/or community involvement. Secondary preference will be given to those women seeking a journalism degree.

King Family Foundation Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors enrolled in a Kansas high school who plan to attend a college in Kansas and study wildlife or nature-based curriculum or outdoors journalism. Sherelle T. and Timothy T. Carper III Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to African American college sophomores who have an interest in pursuing a career in the entertainment industry (e.g. film, television, hospitality management, journalism, media production, digital media, etc). Preference will be given to students attending a Historically Black College or University (HBCU).

Description: Scholarships are open to incoming and current college students who are Mountain American Credit Union members or family of members. In addition to the general scholarship, there are specific scholarships for community service and Business/Communications majors.

Description: Scholarship prize is open to women commencing or continuing a bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. degree in journalism, creative writing, or literature at a recognized post-secondary institution in the United States or Canada in 2020-2021.

Description: Scholarship is open to Native American students pursuing journalism degrees at a higher learning institution. Applicant must be a college junior or senior, or graduate student at an accredited university in the United States.

Robert W. Mong, Jr. Journalism Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors who attend a North Texas High School with at least a 3.0 GPA. Applicant must show demonstrated aptitude for print journalism and plan to pursue a four-year degree in journalism.

UNCF/Best Buy Scholars Program

Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors who are African Americans with intentions to enroll full-time as a freshman at a HBCU. Applicant must have interest in one of the following majors: business, information technology, finance, data sciences, communications or marketing. Preference will be given to students who enroll at Central State University, Howard University, University of District of Columbia or Wilberforce University. Preference will also be given to students who are active high school participants in a Best Buy Teen Tech Center or key non-profit partner. The selection process will focus first on students from Minnesota, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri or Ohio.

Chandler Contest

Description: Contest is open to full-time and part-time students who have never been employed as reporters or editors at general circulation newspapers (internships do not affect eligibility). Applicant must submit three religion stories published in the 2019-20 academic year in campus newspapers and magazines or in general circulation newspapers during a student internship.
