First Responder Scholarships

First responders are designated and trained to respond to emergency situations. They do their best to keep the public safe. Public responders include police officers, sheriff deputies, firefighters, and EMS personnel. If you are a first responder or a child of a first responder, there are scholarships for you.

Public Safety Scholarships
Sponsor: Camden County Hero Scholarship Fund
Amount: Varies
Closing Date: March 31, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors who are actively serving, or parent actively serving Camden County in a public safety capacity. One scholarship will be awarded each Public Safety discipline (Police, Fire, EMS).

ESA Scholarships for Children of First Responders
Sponsor: Electronic Security Association (ESA)
Amount: Up to $7,500
Closing Date: April 10, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors who have a father, mother, or natural guardian who is a first responder. Students in Connecticut must apply by March 20; students in Nevada must apply by February 21; and students in Wisconsin must apply by March 6.

NSFA Scholarship
Sponsor: Nevada State FireFighter’s Association (NSFA)
Amount: Up to $1,250
Closing Date: April 15, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors who are sons, daughters, stepsons, stepdaughters or dependents of a Nevada State Firefighter’ Association member.

IAFC Foundation Scholarships
Sponsor: International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) Foundation
Amount: Varies
Closing Date: April 26, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to current members of the American and Canadian Fire Service. Applicants must currently be active members of a state, county, providential, municipal, community, industrial, or federal fire department.

Warrior’s Legacy Scholarship

Amount: $5,000
Closing Date: May 1, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and current college students who have a parent/guardian with proper service certification (police, EMT, paramedic, fire fighter, military).

Families of Freedom Scholarship
Sponsor: Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund
Amount: Varies
Closing Date: May 15, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to dependent children, spouses or domestic partners of 9/11 victims, including airplane crew and passengers; World Trade Center and Pentagon workers and visitors; and relief workers and visitors; and relief workers, including firefighters, emergency medical personnel, and law enforcement personnel, that were involved in the rescue efforts. Applicant must be an incoming or current college student.

Alphonso Deal Scholarship Award
Sponsor: National Black Police Association
Amount: Varies
Closing Date: May 22, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors who are U.S. citizens and of good character. Applicant must have been accepted by a college or university with the intent to obtain higher education training in the academics of law enforcement, or other related areas, for the betterment of the Criminal Justice system.

Death/Disability Scholarships
Sponsor: Camden County Hero Scholarship Fund
Amount: Varies
Closing Date: Ongoing
Description: Scholarships are awarded children of members of Camden County’s public safety personnel who were killed or permanently disabled in the line of duty. The amount of this scholarship shall include books, required scholastic fees and a sum for tuition equal to the highest tuition charged by New Jersey State Colleges to be determined annually.
