First responders are designated and trained to respond to emergency situations. They do their best to keep the public safe. Public responders include police officers, sheriff deputies, firefighters, and EMS personnel. If you are a first responder or a child of a first responder, there are scholarships for you.

First Responders Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to aspiring first responders, first responders continuing their education, or anyone who has been majorly impacted by a first responder. Applicant must be currently enrolled in a college, university, graduate, or law school with at least a 3.0 GPA. Applicants can be from outside of Texas, but there will be preference given to students within McKinney, Denton, Frisco, Amarillo, and Sulphur Springs.

Law Enforcement Family Member Scholarship
Sponsor: Law Offices of Fales & Fales, P.A.

Description: Scholarship is open to students (undergraduate or graduate) enrolled at either an accredited law school or accredited university. The student must have a family member (such as a parent, spouse, or sibling) who is or was an active member of law enforcement, including reserve officers and retired, deceased or disabled officers.

Dependent Children Scholarship Program
Sponsor: Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation

Closing Date: September 1, 2026
Description: Scholarship is open to Tennessee residents who are dependent children of Tennessee law enforcement officers, firemen, or an emergency medical service technicians who has been killed or totally and permanently disabled while performing duties within the scope of such employment. Applicant must be an incoming or current undergraduate student at a Tennessee institution of higher education.
