
Sometimes college visits are just not possible. Therefore, students should check out the virtual tours offered by many colleges.
Most college counselors encourage college bound students to visit the colleges they are considering. However, when students are looking at colleges all over the country, the cost of visiting can really add up. In addition to the physical cost such as airfare, gas, and hotels, it also takes time to travel and take the college tours. When the visit is out of the question, at least when trying to narrowing down the college list, a virtual tour is a great alternative.

On Wednesday, the California State Aid Commission (CSAC) announced that only about half of the $107 million allotted to the new Middle Class Scholarship program was awarded. However, officials also announced they would extend the application deadline so more eligible students could receive the grant for the 2014-2015 academic year.

It is common to hear news stories about mayors and other political figures placing friendly bets on sporting events. However, chancellors at two leading research universities announced yesterday they have made a friendly wager on the World Series between the San Francisco Giants and the Kansas City Royals. UC San Francisco (UCSF) Chancellor Sam Hawgood and University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) Chancellor Leo E. Morton are betting their cities will win the pennant.
