Average debt for college graduates reaches $28,400

The Project on Student Debt, an initiative of The Institute for College Access & Success, released a report on student debt today. The report, title “Student Debt and the Class of 2013,” studied the reported debt from nonprofit colleges and universities throughout the United States. The study found that 69% of graduating seniors left with student loans and the average debt was $28,400. The report studied debts from pubic and private colleges and universities.

UC Berkeley opens center for student-veterans

Just in time for Veterans Day, UC Berkeley announced the university has opened a veterans center for students. The new headquarters for Cal Veteran Services will be located in Stiles Hall at 2400 Bancroft Way. The new center was made possible by a generous gift of more than $500,000 from UC Berkeley alumnus Coleman Fung, a U.S. Army veteran.

Scholarships for military veterans

Today, on Veterans Day, people across the country are honoring military veterans and all that they have done to protect the United States. Parades, programs and events are happening all over to thank the brave men and women for their service. One of the ways the government has tried to thank them for their service is to provide educational benefits. However, these benefits do not always cover all of their educational costs. Check out this list of scholarships open to military personnel, veterans, and the dependents of military personnel and veterans.
