Do you like making a difference in your school or community? If you do, DoSomething has many campaigns to make a difference, and for participating, you will be entered to win a scholarship! Below are campaigns from DoSomething that are accepting entries in July.

$1,000 Easy Scholarship: Boost a Friend’s Self-Esteem by Posting About Their Best Qualities
Scholarship Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: July 15, 2021
Description: Negative self-image has been found to play a role in the development of mental health issues like depression and anxiety, but positive messages from friends can have a huge impact on young people’s self-image, self-esteem, and mental health. That’s where you come in! You can win an easy $1,000 scholarship by posting or sharing a photo of a friend, and highlighting their best qualities that a photo couldn’t fully capture. In the caption of your post, use #WhatsNotPictured and include “text CARE to 38383,” where friends can access additional mental health resources. You’ll make a serious difference for your friends, and you’ll be entered for a chance to win a $1,000 scholarship. Win-win!

$2,000 Easy Scholarship: Share a Calming Self-Care Checklist with a Friend to Keep Them Safe on the Road
Scholarship Amount: $2,000
Timing: June 20, 2021 – July 19, 2021; July 20 – August 19, 2021
Description: You could win an easy $2,000 scholarship by sharing a mental health and road safety checklist to help a friend practice self-care and stay safe on the road. Motor vehicle crashes continue to be one of the leading causes of death among young people and according to multiple studies, adolescents experiencing psychological distress report higher levels of risky driving. Print our checklist of calming self-care practices (or make your own!) Then share a photo (if sharing in-person) or screenshot (if sharing digitally) of you sharing the checklist with a friend and encourage them to keep it in their vehicle or wallet and use the steps to calm their mental and emotional state before getting on the road. Include a text keyword for them to use to access our mental health and road safety guide. You’ll protect your friends *and* be entered for a chance to win a $2,000 scholarship. Win-win!

$1,500 Easy Scholarship: Share a Guide with a Friend on How to Spot Medical Misinformation and Get Fully Vaccinated Against Meningococcal Disease (link will work starting on July 15, 2021)
Scholarship Amount: $1,500
Timing: July 15, 2021 – August 14, 2021
Description: Meningococcal disease is caused by a bacteria, which can cause meningitis, a brain and spinal cord infection with serious health complications. Young people and college students living in dorms are at an increased risk of meningococcal disease, and with in-person classes starting back up in the fall, outbreaks could reoccur. Infections are preventable through vaccination, but many young people aren’t fully protected because they’ve only completed part of the vaccination series. That’s where you come in! You could win an easy $1,500 scholarship by taking our fill-in-the-blank Complete What’s Missing quiz to test your ability to recognize medical misinformation (including about public health threats like meningococcal disease). Then, share the guide with a friend via text, DM, email, social media, or IRL to educate them on meningococcal disease and medical misinformation (take a screenshot or photo of your share as proof!) and you’ll be entered for a chance to win a $1,500 scholarship. Yep, it’s that easy!

$1,500 Easy Scholarship: Take and Share a Quiz and Inspire Others to Take a Stand Against Big Tobacco 
Scholarship Amount: $1,500
Timing: June 15, 2021 – July 14, 2021; July 15, 2021 – August 14, 2021
Description: Fighting tobacco use is a social justice issue. Gen Z is leading worldwide movements for racial justice, environmental protection, and public health. Take our easy quiz to learn how tobacco use is connected to a variety of causes, like mental health and LGBTQ+ issues. We’ll send you a guide to share with a friend or family member to inspire them to take a stand against Big Tobacco and protect our communities, our planet, and our future. You’ll also be automatically entered for a chance to win a $1,500 scholarship. (Optional: If you have a personal story about how tobacco use and e-cigs may have affected you or your loved ones, share it at the end of the quiz and it could be featured on our social pages!) Let’s Do This.

Eligibility Information

While there is no GPA, test score, or essay requirements, there are some eligibility requirements students must meet to enter any of the above scholarship opportunities:

  • US or Canadian citizens, regardless of residence OR reside in the U.S. or Canada.
  • 13 to 25 years of age.

The above scholarship contests are easy to enter and you’ll be making a difference. Check them out and participate before the closing dates.
