$1,000 Easy Scholarship: Boost a Friend’s Self-Esteem by Posting About Their Best Qualities
Scholarship Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: June 15, 2021
Description: Negative self-image has been found to play a role in the development of mental health issues like depression and anxiety, but positive messages from friends can have a huge impact on young people’s self-image, self-esteem, and mental health. That’s where you come in! You can win an easy $1,000 scholarship by posting or sharing a photo of a friend, and highlighting their best qualities that a photo couldn’t fully capture. In the caption of your post, use #WhatsNotPictured and include “text CARE to 38383,” where friends can access additional mental health resources. You’ll make a serious difference for your friends and you’ll be entered for a chance to win a $1,000 scholarship. Win-win!

$1,000 Easy Scholarship: Take and Share a Quiz to Educate Others on Discrimination and Colorism
Scholarship Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: June 15, 2021
Description: “Colorism” is a demonstrated bias toward people with lighter skin tones over people with darker skin tones, and often refers to explicit discrimination based on the complexion of a person’s skin. Research on colorism associates this bias to social disparities for Black, Brown, Asian, mixed, and Indigenous people with dark skin tones, including: worse mental health, higher school suspension rates, and fewer job opportunities compared to their lighter-skinned counterparts. Take our quiz to learn about colorism, and we’ll send you a guide to help you advocate against colorism when you see it in pop culture, on social media, or on beauty products. Then share the quiz with a friend to help them dismantle colorist language, and you’ll automatically enter to win a $1,000 scholarship.
