Scholarship Saturday – August 1, 2020

There are thousands of scholarships out there. Below you will find many scholarships, most with general eligibility requirements. My goal is to share some lesser-known scholarships with my readers every Saturday.

Mid-America Weary Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to cable industry employees, their spouses and children in the Mid-America region (Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas). Applicant must be at least a high school senior or eligible to enroll in college or currently enrolled in at least 12 hours.

Cash for Cars and College Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to college aged females who are pursing a degree or certification in an automotive technology field such as engineering, mechanics, design, or auto body at an accredited college or technical school.

AAU Karate Scholarships
Sponsor: Amateur Athletic Union of the United States
Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: September 4, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to students who have participate in AAU Karate for a minimum of four years. Student must be a graduating high school senior who will be attending an accredited college or university in the fall or a current undergraduate student.

Healthcare Career Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to students who are currently pursuing education for the following healthcare careers: Medical Technology/CLS/MLS, Nursing (BSN), Health Information Management, Rehabilitation Services (PT, OT, PTA, COTA, SP), Pharmacy, Cardiac Ultrasound, Vascular Ultrasound, or Certified Medical Assistant. Applicant must reside in FHN’s service area (specific areas in Illinois).

STEM Scholarship

Closing Date: September 4, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to students worldwide enrolled or accepted for a graduate or undergraduate degree for the 2020-2021 academic academic year. Applicant must be enrolled in a STEM program.

Alabama Board of Nursing Scholarship Program
Sponsor: Alabama Board of Nursing
Amount: Up to $10,000
Closing Date: September 7, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to applicants who have an active, unencumbered Alabama Register Nurse (RN) license. Applicant must have been admitted to an accredited program within the state of Alabama seeking a graduate degree.

DC Tuition Assistance Grant (DCTAG)
Sponsor: DC.gov – Office of the State Superintendent of Education
Amount: Up to $10,000
Closing Date: September 7, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens who are residents of the District of Columbia and are 26 years of age or younger. Applicant must be an incoming or current undergraduate student.

Student Translation Award
Sponsor: American Translators Association
Amount: $500
Closing Date: September 7, 2020
Description: Award is open to any graduate or undergraduate student, or group of students, attending an accredited college or university in the U.S. Preference will be given to students who have been or are currently enrolled in a translator training program. Applicant must submit a project derived from any facet of translation studies.

NEWH | Houston Chapter Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to students attending an accredited college in Arkansas, Louisiana, or Southern Texas. Applicant must have completed at least half the requirements for a degree and must be pursuing a career objective in the Hospitality industry (Hotel/Restaurant management, Culinary, Food Service, Architecture, Design, etc.)

Love Your Career Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to current college students. Applicant must submit an essay describing at least three steps that they plan to take in the next year to start a path towards having a career that they love.

Cameron Impact Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors (Class of 2021) who are planning to enroll in a full-time course of study toward a bachelor’s degree at an accredited four-year U.S. college or university. Applicant must maintain a minimum cumulative unweighted 3.7 GPA.

Access College Early (ACE) Scholarship Program
Sponsor: Nebraska’s Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary
Amount: Varies
Closing Date: September 15, 2020
Description: Scholarship program is open to low-income high school students to enroll in college courses from Nebraska college or universities, either through dual-enrollment or early enrollment agreements with the institutions. Deadline is for summer classes that have a start date of July 1 or later.

Be the Boss Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to female high school and college students who want to start their own online business. Applicant must share all the reasons they are scared to start their business and who their female boss role model is.

Beat the Odds Scholarship Program

Amount: $4,000
Closing Date: September 15, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors enrolled in an Oregon public high school who will graduate in Summer 2021. Applicant must have at least a 3.0 GPA and have succeeded in spite of hardships such poverty, disability, homeless, or personal tragedy.

Catching the Dream Scholarship

Description: Applicant must be 1/4 or more degree American Indian and be an enrolled member of a U.S. tribe. Applicant must be attending or planning on attending a college or university within the U.S. on a full-time basis that is fully accredited.

CRMA Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to sons, daughters, adopted children, grandchildren, and stepchildren of members of the CRMA who have maintained current membership in the Association. Applicant must be enrolled at the time of application as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student.

Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers & Firemen Scholarship

Closing Date: September 15, 2020
Description: Scholarship is open to students enrolled full-time at the undergraduate level at any state-supported (public) college or university in Mississippi. Applicant must be a certified dependent child (under the age of 23) or spouse of any Mississippi law enforcement officer, full-time firefighter or volunteer firefighter who suffered fatal injuries or wounds or became permanently and totally disabled which occurred in the performance of the official and appointed duties of his or her office.

Moving Forward Scholarship Contest

Description: Scholarship is open to students currently enrolled or planning to enroll at an accredited undergraduate college or university in the fall with at least a 3.0 GPA. Description: Scholarship is open to current college sophomores who are African American and studying Engineering, Business, Finance, Economics, Information Technology or Computer Technology.

Freethought Day High School Essay Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to California high school students (grades 9-12) who plan to pursue post-secondary education at a community college, four-year college, trade school, or vocation school. Applicant must submit an essay on voter turnout.

Description: Scholarship is open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents who are currently enrolled as an undergraduate at a college or university in the U.S. Applicant must be planning to study abroad and program must be eligible for credit at the student’s educational institution.

We the Future Contest

Amount: Varied based on class standing
Closing Date: September 17, 2020
Description: Contest is open to K-12 students, college students, law school students, graduate schools students, adults 25 years of age and older, and seniors 65 years of age and older. Contest is about the U.S. Constitution. Each age group has different requirements, so applicants should visit website for details.

AEF Scholarship
Sponsor: Acorn Equality Fund
Amount: Up to $4,000

Description: Scholarship is open to students who will retain permanent residence in the AEF service area of downstate Illinois and attend any accredited, post-secondary educational institution. Scholarships are designed to provide academic financial support for gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered students, allies, or the children of gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgendered parents.

ILLCF Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to Latino students currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student during the fall term of 2020-21 at an accredited community college or four-year college or university. Applicant’s home residence must be in Illinois.
