About: During the school year, all students learn at similar rates, but low-income students fall behind by three months’ worth of learning during the summer. This is called “summer slide.”
How to enter: Donate a book to your local library! You’ll improve literacy in your community and you’ll be entered to win the scholarship.
Green Your Getaway: Share a Guide to Help Friends Travel Sustainably!
Scholarship Amount: $5,000

About: “Sustainable travel” is all about being a responsible traveler! You want to minimize the harm and work to improve the natural and cultural environments of where you visit.
How to enter: Share DoSomething’s Sustainable Travel Guide on social media or share the guide IRL using a postcard DoSomething will provide. You’ll help others protect the plant and be entered to win the scholarship.
Ride & Seek: Post Flyers to Help Keep Friends and Family Safe on the Road
Scholarship Amount: $5,000

About: Seat belts save up to 15,000 lives every year.
How to enter: Print and post flyers with enticing fill-in-the-blanks about road safety. For every flyer you post, you’ll keep friends safe on the road and earn another chance to win the scholarship.
Huddle Up to Play It Forward
Scholarship Amount: $2,500
Closing Date: August 1, 2019
About: Over 50 billion pieces of litter land on roads and in waterways each year!
How to enter: You could win the scholarship just by picking up trash or litter in a local park, beach, community space, or another place people get out and play! Just send in a photo of the litter you pick up. You’ll protect the environment, create better places to play, and be entered to win the scholarship.
Call for a More Inclusive Definition of “Black” in the Dictionary

Description: You could win an easy $5,000 scholarship by calling for dictionary sites to create a more accurate, inclusive definition of the word “black.” The word is currently misdefined as things like “dirty” and “evil,” and research shows these definitions fuel real-world prejudice. Dictionary.com has made a commitment to change their outdated definition to reflect a more positive representation of the word Black. Include other dictionaries in the conversation to follow Dictionary.com’s lead to update their definition of “Black.” Other dictionaries you can include in your tweet: @MerriamWebster, @OxfordWords, @CollinsDict, and other popular dictionary sites (DoSomething will provide sample text). Anonymously Report Social Media Bullies

Eligibility Information
While there is no GPA, test score, or essay requirements, there are some eligibility requirements students must meet to enter any of the above scholarship opportunities:
- US or Canadian citizens, regardless of residence OR reside in the U.S. or Canada.
- 13 to 25 years of age.
