May 2019 DoSomething Scholarships

Do you like making a difference in your school or community? If you do, DoSomething has many campaigns to make a difference, and for participating, you will be entered to win a scholarship! Below are campaigns from DoSomething that are accepting entries in May.

Huddle Against Hunger: Collect 1 Item for a Food Pantry 
Scholarship Amount: $2,500
Dates: April 15, 2019 – May 15, 2019; May 16, 2019 – June 15, 2019
About: There are thousands of young people not reaching their true potential on the playing field due to a lack of good nutrition.
How to enter: You could win the scholarship by collecting healthy and non-perishable food items for kids in need. You’ll ensure everyone can have at least one proper meal. Share a picture of you donating food and you’ll be entered to win the scholarship.

Sincerely, Us: Make a Card to Show Muslim Americans You Stand With Them This Eid
Scholarship Amount: $500
Closing Date: May 31, 2019
About: It’s a scary time for lots of Muslims in the U.S. Hate crimes towards our Muslim American neighbors have risen dramatically since 2015.
How to enter: Make and send a handmade Happy Eid card to mosques across the country as a sign of support for our Muslim American friends and neighbors.

Take Back the Prom: Advocate for an Inclusive Prom Court at Your School
Scholarship Amount: $2,500
Closing Date: May 31, 2019
About: In a national survey, 48.6% of LGBTQ+ students reported that their school had gender-specific homecoming courts, prom kings/queens, or other types of honors at dances.
How to enter: Use DoSomething’s toolkit and one-on-one coaching to update your school’s tradition and give *everyone* the chance to be royalty.

Take Back the Prom: Outfit Donations
Scholarship Amount: $2,000
Closing Date: May 31, 2019
About: The average student spends over $1,100 on prom, with one major expense being the outfit.
How to enter: Donate your gently-used prom clothes to a local organization to ensure students from low-income households can have an outfit on prom night. Or, you can even run a drive in your school and/or community to collect these items to be part of the nation’s largest youth-led prom clothing drive.

Take Back the Prom: Submit a Petition or Share your Story
Scholarship Amount: $2,500
Closing Date: May 31, 2019
About: Prom is supposed to be an experience every student can celebrate and cherish. But this year, thousands will face discrimination on the basis of race, sexual orientation, gender identity, body type, ability, income, or even clothing.
How to enter: Submit a petition signature demanding change from schools that still have discriminatory prom policies or share your own story of discrimination at a prom.

Ride & Seek: Post Flyers to Help Keep Friends and Family Safe on the Road
Scholarship Amount: $5,000
Closing Date: July 31, 2019
About: Seat belts save up to 15,000 lives every year.
How to enter: Print and post flyers with enticing fill-in-the-blanks about road safety. For every flyer you post, you’ll keep friends safe on the road and earn another chance to win the scholarship.

Eligibility Information

While there is no GPA, test score, or essay requirements, there are some eligibility requirements students must meet to enter any of the above scholarship opportunities:

  • US or Canadian citizens, regardless of residence OR reside in the U.S. or Canada.
  • 13 to 25 years of age.

The above scholarship contests are easy to enter and you’ll be making a difference. Check them out and participate before the closing dates.
