Scholarship Saturday – January 19, 2019

There are thousands of scholarships out there. Below you will find many scholarships, most with general eligibility requirements. My goal is to share some lesser-known scholarships with my readers every Saturday.

Women’s Cyber Security Scholarship

Description: Scholarships are open to women pursuing a degree with an information security/cybersecurity focus who are high school seniors, first year undergraduate students, or mid-career professionals pursuing an undergraduate degree (freshman, sophomore, or junior year). Applicant must have at least a 3.3 GPA.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Scholarships

Closing Date: February 1, 2019
Description: Scholarships are open to Zetas and non-Zetas who are high school seniors and current college students. In addition to the general scholarships, there are scholarships specifically to students studying Anthropology, Counseling, Education, Health Sciences, Medicine or Social Work. In addition, there is a scholarship for students who will be studying abroad.

ZGF Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to students beginning their final year in an NAAB Accredited Architecture program in the fall of 2019 who currently reside in the United States.

Center for Advancing Opportunity Doctoral Fellowship

Amount: Up to $40,000
Closing Date: February 3, 2019
Description: Scholarship is open to current doctoral students pursuing a doctoral in an eligible discipline (Business, Criminal Justice, Economics, Education, Philosophy, or Political Science).

Center for Advancing Opportunity Undergraduate Scholarship

Amount: Up to $7,500
Closing Date: February 3, 2019
Description: Scholarship is open to students classified as a rising junior or senior as of Fall 2018. Applicant must be attending a four-year HBCU and pursuing a degree in an eligible discipline (Business, Criminal Justice, Economics, Education, Philosophy, Political Science, or Sociology) with at least a 3.5 GPA. Applicant must be involved in pursuing research in education, criminal justice, or entrepreneurialism.

BankWest Scholarships

Amount: $1,500
Closing Date: February 4, 2019
Description: Scholarship is open to South Dakota high school seniors and current undergraduate students who are BankWest Deposit Account holders for a minimum of six months preceding application.

Determined Scholars Award
Sponsor: Dream Big Fort Worth
Amount: Up to $20,000 over four years
Closing Date: February 4, 2019
Description: Scholarship is open to high school juniors set to graduate in June 2020 from a Tarrant County (TX) public school. Applicant must have demonstrated need for financial assistance and demonstrated ability to overcome obstacles.

Drive2Life Contest
Sponsor: Scholastic Inc.
Amount: $1000 plus a trip to New York City
Closing Date: February 4, 2019
Description: Contest is open to students in grades 6-12. Contestant must create a storyboard or written script for a 30-second public service announcement (PSA) about preventing drowsy driving.

Driving Memories Scholarship

Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: February 4, 2019
Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors who are between the ages of 16 and 22 years of age. Applicant must submit an essay on the family car.

Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Scholarship
Sponsor: Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo
Amount: Up to $20,000 over four years
Closing Date: February 4, 2019
Description: Scholarships are open to graduating high school seniors who are Texas residents and plan to attend a Texas college or university. There are multiple scholarships with specific requirements.

Press Club of Western Pennsylvania Scholarship
Sponsor: The Press Club of Western Pennsylvania
Amount: Up to $5,000
Closing Date: February 4, 2019
Description: Scholarship is open to current sophomore and junior journalism students enrolled in an accredited college or university with a primary residence in one of the 29 counties of Western Pennsylvania.

General Application Scholarships
Sponsor: Central Indiana Community Foundation
Amount: Varies
Closing Date: February 5, 2019
Description: Scholarships are open to graduating high school seniors, current college students, and those not currently enrolled in high school or college who will be attending college in the near future who are from Indiana. The foundation administers over 100 scholarships every year with different requirements – check website for specific details.

Harry S. Truman Scholarship
Sponsor: The Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation
Amount: Up to $30,000
Closing Date: February 5, 2019
Description: Scholars program is open to full-time junior-level students at four-year institutions pursuing a bachelor’s degree during the 2018-2019 academic year. Applicant must have an extensive record of public and community service and is committed to a career in government or elsewhere in public service.

Northrop Grumman Engineering Scholars Program
Sponsor: Northrop Grumman
Amount: $2,000
Closing Date: February 5, 2019
Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors with at least a 3.5 GPA who are from specific counties in the states of Alabama, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, New York, Ohio, Utah, or Virginia (see website for specific locations). Applicant must plan to attend an accredited four-year college or university as a full-time student in an approved engineering, computer science, mathematics or physics program.
