Scholarship Saturday – October 20, 2018

There are thousands of scholarships out there. Below you will find many scholarships, most with general eligibility requirements. My goal is to share some lesser-known scholarships with my readers every Saturday.

Description: Scholarship is open to currently enrolled college students who are majoring full-time in a science, technology, engineering or mathematics program. Application opens October 15, 2018 and only the first 50 completed applications will be considered – apply early.

Cappex Easy College Money Scholarship*

Description: Scholarship is open to high school and college students in the United States who are/will be enrolled in college within the next 12 months. Applicant must create a Cappex profile (if they don’t have one already), share about their extracurricular activities, leadership, and volunteer activities, and then search Cappex for scholarships.

Courage to Grow Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to juniors and seniors in high school and college students with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Applicant must explain in 250 words or less why they believe they should be awarded the scholarship.

Addiction Recovery Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to accepted and enrolled college students who are in recovery from drug addiction and/or alcoholism.

Addiction Science Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to accepted and enrolled college students who are pursuing a degree and/or career in the field of Addiction Sciences (addiction studies, mental health, neurochemistry, etc.)

Health Care Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to accepted and enrolled college students who are seeking a degree and/or career in the Health Care field (nursing, pre-med, nutrition, therapy, psychology, social work, health science, radiology, phlebotomy, surgery, pediatric, etc.)

Advancement of Women in Sports & Entertainment Scholarship
Sponsor: The Floyd Mayweather Jr. Foundation
Amount: $1,000

Description: Scholarship is open to female undergraduate or graduate students who are majoring in Public Relations, Communication, Media Studies, Marketing or Journalism. Applicant must be a legal resident of the United States and have a desire to work in the entertainment or sports industry.

Real World Design Challenge
Sponsor: Real World Design Challenge

Closing Date: November 17, 2018
Description: Participation is limited to students living in OR enrolled in schools located in a state or territory that is hosting a State Competition. To be eligible to compete as a student team member, a student must be currently enrolled in grade nine, ten, eleven or twelve. Students will be asked to address a challenge that confronts our nation’s leading industries. Students will utilize professional engineering software to develop their solutions and will also generate presentations that convincingly demonstrate the value of their solutions.

cuLearn Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to U.S. residents 18 years or age or older who are current college students (unfortunately contest is not open to students in New York or Florida). Applicant must fill out a short form. To receive an additional entry, applicant must submit a blog post on how to pay for college while avoiding excessive debt.

SOY Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors with at least a 3.0 GPA who are children or grandchildren of a current ASA member. Applicant must plan to declare agriculture (or a discipline in the school of Agriculture) as an area of study at an accredited college or university of their choosing.

Fountain Law Firm $1,000 Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to students currently attending college or graduate school. Applicant must submit an essay on a given topic related to a safety features you can add to vehicles to make driving during inclement weather safer.

Chick and Sophie Major Memorial Duck Calling Contest Scholarships

Amount: Up to $2,000
Closing Date: November 23, 2018
Description: Scholarship competition is open to graduating high school seniors. Applicant must participate in a duck calling contest in Stuttgart, Arkansas to be considered for the award.

Surety Foundation Minority Internship & Scholarship Program
Sponsor: The Surety Foundation
Amount: Up to $5,000
Closing Date: November 23, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to full-time undergraduate students at accredited four-year educational institutions who are U.S. citizens. Applicant must be a minority student (Black/African-American, Native American/Alaskan Native, Asian/Pacific Islander, or Hispanic ethnic origin). Ideally, applicant should be a declared accounting, business/finance or insurance/risk management major and applicant must have at least a 3.0 GPA.

Chief Manuelito Scholarship for High School Students
Sponsor: Office of Navajo Nation Scholarship and Financial Assistance (ONNSFA)
Amount: $7,000
Closing Date: November 25, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to high achieving high school graduates and undergraduate Navajo students. Students seeking an Associates of Applied Science (AAS) or Certificate are ineligible.

Worthy Women’s Professional Studies Scholarship

Amount: Up to $2,500
Closing Date: November 26, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to continuing education professional studies students who identify as a female and are over the age of 30.
