Scholarship Saturday – October 13, 2018

There are thousands of scholarships out there. Below you will find many scholarships, most with general eligibility requirements. My goal is to share some lesser-known scholarships with my readers every Saturday.

Description: Scholarship is open to students entering their senior year of high school in the fall of 2018 who are residents or attend high school in one of the following areas: Chicago, Illinois or the counties of Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry or Will, Illinois; Las Vegas, Nevada and suburbs of the area, or Fairfield, Greens Farms, Redding or Westport, Connecticut.

Rent to Own Labs Scholarship
Sponsor: Rent to Own Labs
Amount: $2,500
Closing Date: October 15, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to current undergraduate students with at least a 3.5 GPA and who have a declared major related to real estate. Applicant must submit an application, their transcript, two letters of recommendations, a short essay sharing why they are interested in real estate, and an essay on the requirements in their home state to become a realtor.

October Midterms Scholarship

Amount: $5,000
Closing Date: October 31, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to permanent legal U.S. residents physically residing in the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are at least 16 years old and currently enrolled in an accredited college or university in the United States. Applicant must answer a short question, give course advice, upload eight study documents, and share on social media.

NCJW/LA Scholarship Program
Sponsor: National Council of Jewish Women | Los Angeles
Amount: Up to $2,000
Closing Date: November 1, 2018
Description: Scholarships are open to students who live and attend school in the Greater Los Angeles area, including Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and Ventura Counties. Applicant must be trying to better their lives through education in the aftermath of trauma, loss and other setbacks. There are scholarships open to all majors and specific scholarships for nursing majors, mothers, non-traditional students, education majors, and film/television/cinema/theater majors.

NorthPoint Washington College Scholarship

Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: November 1, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to students who will be enrolled in post-secondary education in the upcoming semester. Applicant must submit an essay on the way in which they have helped themselves or others in the face of drug or alcohol addiction.

P.E.O. Star Scholarship
Sponsor: P.E.O. Educational Fund
Amount: $2,500
Closing Date: November 1, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to high school senior women who will attend an accredited postsecondary educational institution in the United States or Canada in the next academic year. Applicant must exhibit excellence in community service, extracurricular activities and leadership and applicant must have at least a 3.0 GPA.

Ron Brown Scholar Program
Sponsor: Ron Brown Scholar Program
Amount: $10,000
Closing Date: November 1, 2018
Description: Scholars program is open to African-American/Black high school seniors who excel academically and demonstrate a keen interest in public service, community engagement, business entrepreneurship and global citizenship. This is the early applicant deadline. The final deadline is January 9, 2019.

Scholarship for students with self employment experience

Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: November 1, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in a degree program at any accredited American institution with self employment experience. Examples of self employment include mowing lawns for neighbors, tutoring students, and babysitting.

Short-Term Service Scholarship
Sponsor: Athena Study Abroad
Amount: $400
Closing Date: November 1, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to students accepted into an Athena January term study abroad program. Applicant must devote a day to a service project of his/her choosing and provide proof of service.

SIT Scholarships
Sponsor: SIT Study Abroad
Amount: Up to $5,000
Closing Date: November 1, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to current college students who are applying to a SIT Study Abroad program for the Spring.
