Scholarship Saturday – October 6, 2018

There are thousands of scholarships out there. Below you will find many scholarships, most with general eligibility requirements. My goal is to share some lesser-known scholarships with my readers every Saturday.

Description: Contest is open to youth ages 12-18 years of age who plan to stay in school and earn their high school diploma or GED to prepare for success. Applicant must watch a docu-short and then submit a one minute essay, two-minute rap on video, poem, or artwork to describe their reaction to the film, opportunities that interest them, and the kind of support they need to follow their dreams.

Torch Award Scholarship

Amount: Up to $1,500
Closing Date: October 26, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to high school students who will graduate in 2019 or 2020 and reside in San Diego, Orange, or Imperial Counties in California. Applicant must submit an essay on a given topic related to ethics and integrity.

UNCF Twin Cities Hope Scholarship

Closing Date: October 26, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to African-American students who are current undergraduate students and residents of the Minneapolis/St. Paul area (see website for specific county residence requirement). Applicant must have at least a 3.0 GPA, submit an essay outline their career aspirations, leadership experience, and most significant achievements, and one letter of recommendation.

“You Deserve It” Scholarship

Closing Date: October 29, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to students who are residents of any of the 50 United States, District of Columbia or U.S. Territories and are 16 years of age or older and are either enrolled now, or will be enrolled within three months of registration in a qualified high school, college or university in the United States.

Chick Evans Scholarship for Caddies
Sponsor: Evans Scholars Foundation

Description: Scholarship is open to students who have a strong caddie record and excellent academics. Applicant must have completed their junior year of high school with above a B average. Applicant must plan to attend an institution with an Evans Scholars Program (list of institutions available on website).

Sleeping Angels Co. Scholarship Program

Description: Scholarship is open to students currently enrolled as a college/university student within the United States who are American citizens, permanent residents, or hold a valid student visa. Applicant must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Student must submit an essay describing the evolution of the nanny in the 21st century.

$2,000 “No Essay” College Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to high school, college, and graduate students and those planning to enroll within 12 months. Butt Invasion Scholarship

Description: Contest is open to registered Fastweb members (free to sign-up) who are legal residents of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia and who are between the ages of 15 and 24 years of age. Applicant must answer some questions related to cigarettes and smoking. Truth (the sponsor) wants to be the generation that ends smoking for good and cleans up the environment doing it.
