Scholarship Saturday – July 14, 2018

There are thousands of scholarships out there. Below you will find many scholarships, most with general eligibility requirements. My goal is to share some lesser-known scholarships with my readers every Saturday.

Excelsior Scholarship Program
Sponsor: New York State Higher Education Services Corporation
Amount: Up to $5,500
Closing Date: July 23, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to New York State residents who are pursuing an undergraduate degree at a SUNY or CUNY college, including community colleges and statutory colleges at Cornell University and Alfred University. Applicant must be enrolled in at least 12 credits per term.

NYS Part-time Scholarship (PTS)
Sponsor: New York State Higher Education Services Corporation
Amount: Up to $1,500
Closing Date: July 27, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to residents of New York State who will be attending an approved program at a SUNY or CUNY community college in at least six but less than 12 credits per term.

Grab the Mic: Share an Infographic to Educate Friends about Homelessness
Sponsor: DoSomething
Amount: $3,000
Closing Date: July 31, 2018
Description: 34% of the total population of people experiencing homelessness is under the age of 24. Share an infographic to educate friends on challenges faced by the homeless population. You’ll inspire friends to help the homeless and you’ll be entered to win the scholarship.

Red, White, Booth: Run a Voter Registration Drive
Sponsor: DoSomething
Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: July 31, 2018
Description: 75% of young Americans say the government isn’t listening to them. Get your community registered to vote. DoSomething will walk you through the entire process of running a voter registration drive so you can make it happen.

American Indian Services Scholarship
Sponsor: American Indian Services (AIS)
Amount: Varies
Closing Date: August 1, 2018
Description: Applicant must be one-quarter (1/4) Northern-Native American Indian and enrolled in undergraduate studies at a university, junior college, or technical school. Applicant must have at least a 2.25 GPA.

Asian Heritage High School Scholarship
Sponsor: Infinity Law Group
Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: August 1, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to current law students and those who have been accepted and will be attending their first year of law school in the fall. Applicant must be of Asian heritage with at least one parent of Asian ancestry.

Auto Accident Law Firm Survivor Scholarship
Sponsor: Appel Law Firm LLP
Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: August 1, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to college students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Applicant must have sustained injuries from a car or truck accident or been affected by someone else’s accident.

Breaking Barriers: Scholarship for Men in Nursing
Sponsor: Nursing.org
Amount: $500
Closing Date: August 1, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to men 18 years of age or older who are actively enrolled in an accredited nursing program.

Brian Bolton Graduate Student/Older Student Essay Contest
Sponsor: Freedom From Religion Foundation
Amount: Up to $3,000
Closing Date: August 1, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to current graduate students up to age 30, or undergrads ages 25-30, attending a North American college or university. Applicant must submit an essay on the dangers of bibliolatry in the United States.
