Attending college can be quite expensive for students and their families. Luckily, there are many college scholarships and contests available to help pay for a college education. Students should seek out and apply for scholarships in which they meet the eligibility requirements. Below are a handful of scholarships with April 2018 due dates. Check out the full list of April Scholarships – there are currently just under 300 scholarships on the list! More scholarships will be added as they become available.

AFSA High School Senior Scholarship Contest
Sponsor: American Fire Sprinkler Association (AFSA)

Closing Date: April 1, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors who are citizens and aliens legally residing in the United States. Applicant must read the “Fire Sprinkler Essay” and then take a ten question multiple-choice test. Student will receive an entry into a drawing for each question answered correctly.
Project Yellow Light Scholarship Competition – Radio

Description: Competition is open to high school juniors and seniors and current undergraduate students. Applicant must create a radio recording of 20 second that discourages distracted driving.
Project Yellow Light Scholarship Competition – Video

Description: Competition is open to high school juniors and seniors and current undergraduate students. Applicant must submit a video that encourages friends to avoid distracted driving.
Signet Essay Contest

Description: Contest is open to 11th and 12th grade, full-time matriculated students who are attending high schools located in the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, or homeschooled students between the ages of 16-18. Applicant must submit an essay on one of five given topics related to the book, “Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl.”
Americans United for Separation of Church and State Essay Contest

Description: Contest is open to all United States high school juniors and seniors. Applicant must submit an essay on a given topic related to the separation of church and state.
Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes

Description: Scholarship is open to students enrolled in an accredited graduate institution in North America who have academic and/or career goals focused on making a significant positive difference in the long-term protection of wilderness in the United States.
Stockholm Junior Water Prize Competition

Description: Competition is open to students ages 15-20 in grades 9-12. Applicant must submit a water-related science project. Teams of up to three students may enter.
Youth Free Expression Film Contest: Fight the Power!
Sponsor: National Coalition Against Censorship
Amount: Up to $1,000
Closing Date: April 15, 2018
Description: Contest is open to individuals living in the U.S. or its territories (but need not be citizens) who will be age 19 or younger on the day the film is submitted. Contestant must submit a film of four minutes or less on the topic, “Fight the Power: Why (Your) Protest Matters!”

Description: Scholarship is open to high school, college, and graduate students and those planning to enroll within 12 months. NPG Essay Scholarship Contest

Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors and college freshmen, sophomores, and juniors who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Applicant must select one of the given environmental issues and explain how it is made worse by population growth.
A Voice for Animals Contest

Description: Contest is open to students between the ages of 14 and 18 years of age. Applicant must submit an essay on a given topic related to animals.
All About Education Scholarship
Sponsor: Unigo
Amount: $3,000
Closing Date: April 30, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to students 13 years of age or older who are legal residents of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia and are currently enrolled (or will enroll no later than the fall of 2024) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education. Applicant will need to submit a short response to a given prompt.
E-waste Scholarship
