February 2018 DoSomething Scholarships

Do you like making a difference in your school or community? If you do, DoSomething has many campaigns to make a difference, and for participating, you will be entered to win a scholarship! Below are campaigns from DoSomething accepting entries in February.

Save the Mascots Art Competition
Scholarship Amount: $2,500
Closing Date: February 19, 2018
About: Secondhand smoke causes cancer, which is why thousands of colleges have gone tobacco-free. Problem is, 3,273 campuses still allow tobacco.
How to enter: Create the official campaign mascot for #SaveTheMascot! Submit your cheeky illustration of a mascot coping with the effects of secondhand smoke.

Feeding Better Futures: Share a Photo of a Food or Sustainability Issue in Your Home, School, or Community
Scholarship Amount: $5,000
Closing Date: February 28, 2018
About: 1 in 8 people on Earth struggle with hunger, including 13 million kids and teenagers in America and 2.5 million Canadians who live without secure access to food.
How to enter: Use DoSomething’s guide to spot a problem around food waste, hunger relief, or another issue. Take a photo of the problem and suggest a creative solution your home, school, or community could use. Unlimited entries.

Grab the Mic: Share our Netflix  Guide on Social Media
Scholarship Amount: $3,000
Closing Date: February 28, 2018
About: Asian actors make up only 1% of Hollywood’s leading roles. LGBTQ+ characters make up 2% of speaking roles. Black people make up 12% of the adult population in the United States, but only 5% of people who run for office.
How to enter: Share DoSomething’s Netflix guide on your social media to support diversity in media.

Mirror Messages: Post a Note to Brighten Someone’s Day!
Scholarship Amount: $2,000
Closing Date: February 28, 2018
About: By age 13, about 53% of American girls are unhappy with their bodies. By 17, it’s 78%. And it’s not just girls either – new research shows that close to 1 in 4 boys experience body dysmorphia.
How to enter: Post a sticky note on bathroom mirrors, lockers, and other places around your school to brighten someone’s day.

Shower Songs: Take Shorter Showers to Save Water!
Scholarship Amount: $2,000
Closing Date: February 28, 2018
About: Americans use more than a TRILLION gallons of water for showering each year. That’s enough to supply all the water needs of New York and New Jersey.
How to enter: Share a 5-minute playlist with a friend to remind them to keep their shower under 5 minutes.

Team Up, Dream Up: Make a Sign to Boost Your Friend’s Confidence
Scholarship Amount: $2,500
Closing Date: March 15, 2018
How to enter: Use DoSomething’s easy instructions to make a sign encouraging your friend to follow their dreams. Upload a photo of yourself with your sign and you’ll both be automatically entered to win the scholarship! Unlimited entries!

Save the Mascots: Share a Photo to Urge Colleges to Go Tobacco-Free!
Scholarship Amount: $2,500
Closing Date: March 31, 2018
About: Secondhand smoke causes cancer, which is why thousands of colleges have gone tobacco-free. Problem is, 3,273 campuses still allow tobacco.
How to enter: Post a photo urging college campuses to go tobacco-free! Post a photo (DoSomething will provide one) of a college mascot and tag a nearby college, asking them to #SaveTheMascots by going tobacco-free.

Eligibility Information

While there is no GPA, test score, or essay requirements, there are some eligibility requirements students must meet to enter any of the above scholarship opportunities:

  • US or Canadian citizens, regardless of residence OR reside in the U.S. or Canada.
  • 13 to 25 years of age.

The above scholarship contests are easy to enter and you’ll be making a difference. Check them out and participate before the closing dates.
