Scholarship Saturday – January 13, 2018

There are thousands of scholarships out there. Below you will find many scholarships, most with general eligibility requirements. My goal is to share some lesser-known scholarships with my readers every Saturday.

Description: Scholarship is open to students 13 years of age and older who are legal residents of the United States. Applicant must be currently enrolled in middle or high school. Applicant must submit an essay answering one of many given questions related to thinking for yourself.

Diversity Advancement Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to high school and undergraduate minority students who are entering, enrolled in, or transferring into a NAAB-accredited undergraduate architecture program.

Grand Plan Scholarship

Closing Date: January 18, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to incoming college freshmen and sophomores. In 300 words or less, applicant must share their “grand plan.”

Arizona Don’t Text and Drive Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors and current college students in Arizona. Applicant must fill out a form pledging they will not text and drive.

Courage to Grow Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to juniors and seniors in high school and college students with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Applicant must explain in 250 words or less why they believe they should be awarded the scholarship.

Florida Law Group Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to incoming and existing law students enrolled in the Spring 2018 semester. Applicant must submit an essay on drinking and boating.

McDonald’s Black History Makers of Tomorrow
Sponsor: Black History Makers of Tomorrow – Kentuckiana
Amount: $1,500
Closing Date: January 31, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to outstanding Kentuckiana (specific areas in Indiana and Kentucky) high school seniors who demonstrate exceptional leadership, character, scholarship and community service. The program is open to students with at least one parent of African-American or Black Caribbean descent.

Peterson’s January $1,000 Scholarship

Description: Sweepstakes is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are at least 15 years of age. Unfortunately, residents of the state of Maine are not eligible to participate. Applicant must sign up free with Peterson’s.

PFLAG New Orleans Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to students applying to attend (or currently attending) a post-secondary educational institution. Applicant must self identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer… Or anywhere within the LGBTQ “family” and must be a resident of the state of Louisiana.

Plan for College Sweepstakes

Description: Sweepstakes is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are of the age of majority in the jurisdiction in which they reside and who are students, parents, guidance counselors, or financial aid officers at the time of entry. Applicant must complete an online registration form.
