Scholarship Saturday – December 23, 2017

There are thousands of scholarships out there. Below you will find many scholarships, most with general eligibility requirements. My goal is to share some lesser-known scholarships with my readers every Saturday.

Description: Scholarship is open to students attending an ABA-approved law school for the 2017-2018 school year. Applicant must submit an essay on a topic related to Activism and the Law.

Spread the Word on Safety Scholarship

Closing Date: January 6, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and current undergraduate students with at least a 3.2 GPA. Applicant must submit an essay on a one of four given topics related to impaired or distracted driving.

Planet DISH Scholarship

Closing Date: January 7, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to U.S. Citizens and permanent legal residents of the United States who are currently attending an accredited college or university, OR will be attending an accredited college or university beginning in the spring 2018 semester. Applicant must submit an essay on a given topic related to educational television.

Satellite For Internet College Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to incoming freshmen and current undergraduate students. Applicant must submit an essay on how having slow or no available internet connection impacts students learning ability.

Carson Scholars

Closing Date: January 8, 2018
Description: Scholars program is open to students in grades 4-11 who excel academically and are dedicated to serving their communities. Applications must be requested by school officials. Applicant must have at least a 3.75 GPA.

College Achievement Awards

Amount: Up to $2,000
Closing Date: January 8, 2018
Description: Scholarship is open to college juniors and seniors, and current graduate students (preferred GPA of at least 3.0) who are either Wisconsin residents or attending a Wisconsin college or university. Applicant must be of Polish ancestry OR have studied Polish language, history, society, culture OR significantly engaged in Polish culture. In addition to the general scholarships, there are scholarships open to students engaged in dance or theater or studying science.

Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Awards
Sponsor: Helen Diller Family Foundation
Amount: Up to $36,000
Closing Date: January 8, 2018
Description: Award is open to Jewish teens who are between the ages of 13 and 19 at the time of nomination. Student must have demonstrated impressive leadership and are actively engaged in community service projects that embody the value of tikkun olam (repair of the world). Teens can also be nominated (deadline for nomination is Dec. 18, 2017).
