December 2017 DoSomething Scholarships

Do you like making a difference in your school or community? If you do, DoSomething has many campaigns to make a difference, and for participating, you will be entered to win a scholarship! Below are campaigns from DoSomething accepting entries in December.

Ride & Seek: Keep Friends and Family Safer in the Car
Scholarship Amount: $5,000
Closing Date: December 15, 2017extended to December 31, 2017
About: Seat belts save lives – everyone knows that. But warnings from parents and scare tactics from ad campaigns don’t make teenage drivers and passengers more likely to wear a seat belt.
How to enter: Student can win an easy scholarship just by printing and posting flyers. For every poster you share in your community, you’ll keep people safer on the road AND earn another chance at the scholarship. Unlimited entries!

Cookin’ It Old School
Scholarship Amount: $2,000
Closing Date: December 31, 2017
About: Older adults who feel lonely or isolated have a higher chance of depression and physical decline.
How to enter: Cook a meal with your grandparent or another older adult in your life. Spread cheer this holiday season by asking an older person to share one of their favorite family recipes with you. Then cook a meal together! Submit a photo of the two of you cooking together and you’ll automatically be entered to win the scholarship. Unlimited entries!

Send 1 Tweet to Help Ban Menthol Cigarettes
Scholarship Amount: $5,000
Closing Date: December 15, 2017extended to December 28, 2017
About: Menthol cigarettes are easier to start and harder to quit… And they’re the last flavored cigarette on the market. Do something about it!
How to enter: Send 1 tweet in support of the ban, and you’ll be entered to win the scholarship.

Missing in History: Make a Bookmark Celebrating Diverse Figures in History!
Scholarship Amount: $5,000
Closing Date: December 31, 2017
About: School textbooks often leave out the contributions of black Americans and other figures from underrepresented groups.
How to enter: Use DoSomething’s easy guide to print a bookmark (or make your own) celebrating a forgotten figure in history. Put the bookmark in one of your school textbooks, and you can win the scholarship. Unlimited entries!

Take Shorter Showers to Save Water!
Scholarship Amount: $2,000
Closing Date: December 31, 2017
About: Americans use more than a TRILLION gallons of water showering each year. That’s enough to supply all the water needs of New Jersey and the Empire State.
How to enter: Share a five-minute playlist with a friend to remind them to keep their shower under five minutes. That’ll save up to 1,500 gallons of water this year and you’ll automatically be entered to win the scholarship.

Thanks a Billion: Make a Thank-You Card For Your Favorite Science Teacher!
Scholarship Amount: $5,000
Closing Date: December 31, 2017
About: Beyond everything else they do for students, American teachers spend over $1.6 Billion a year (of their own money) on classroom supplies. For science teachers, new lab equipment is especially important for learning and especially expensive to buy.
How to enter: Use DoSomething’s simple tips for what to write on the card, and then give it to your teacher! Unlimited entries!

Eligibility Information

While there is no GPA, test score, or essay requirements, there are some eligibility requirements students must meet to enter any of the above scholarship opportunities:

  • US or Canadian citizens, regardless of residence OR reside in the U.S. or Canada.
  • 13 to 25 years of age.

The above scholarship contests are easy to enter and you’ll be making a difference. Check them out and participate before the closing dates.
