Scholarship Saturday – September 23, 2017

There are thousands of scholarships out there. Below you will find many scholarships, most with general eligibility requirements. My goal is to share some lesser-known scholarships with my readers every Saturday.

Apple HBCU Scholars Program
Sponsor: Thurgood Marshall College Fund | Apple
Amount: Up to $25,000
Closing Date: October 1, 2017 (extended from September 17, 2017)
Description: Scholarship is open to students enrolled full-time at a four-year accredited HBCU or PBI (Predominately Black Institution) who are currently in the second-to-last year of studying, graduating in Fall 2018 or Spring 2019. The highly competitive program targets STEM students, but opportunities exist for students of all disciplines.

#FeelsLikeHome Scholarship

Amount: $1,000
Closing Date: October 13, 2017
Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and college freshmen, sophomores, and juniors who are between the ages of 16 and 22 years of age. Applicant must share a photo that shows how they’ve made (or plan to make) their college experience feel like a home away from home.

Edna Blum Scholarship for NY Residents
Sponsor: UNCF
Amount: Up to $5,000
Closing Date: October 13, 2017
Description: Scholarship is open to students with an unmet financial need attending colleges and universities throughout the United States. Applicant must be from the NYC area (one of the five Burroughs only), be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident, and have at least a 2.5 GPA.

NASCAR Diversity Scholarship
Sponsor: The NASCAR Foundation
Amount: Up to $10,000
Closing Date: October 13, 2017
Description: Scholarship is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are between the ages of 18 and 25 and who are students in good standing currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at an accredited college or university within the United States. Applicant must submit a 90 second video demonstrating one technology used in NASCAR, an issue it resolved, and how STEM professionals came to its design.

Olin E. Teague Scholarship
Sponsor: National Space Club
Amount: $4,000
Closing Date: October 13, 2017
Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors who are U.S. citizens and plan to pursue careers in the aerospace fields.

Schedulers & Dispatchers Scholarships
Sponsor: National Business Aviation Association (NBAA)
Amount: Up to $10,000
Closing Date: October 13, 2017
Description: Scholarship is open to current and aspiring schedulers and dispatchers.

YoungArts Competition
Sponsor: National YoungArts Foundation
Amount: Up to $5,000
Closing Date: October 13, 2017
Description: Competition is open to students in grades 10-12 who have talent in visual, literary, design or performing arts. There is a $35 application fee, but it can be waived if you meet requirements.
