Early Action and Early Decisions deadlines are right around the corner. To be considered for these options, make sure your applications and materials are submitted by the deadline. For students who are applying regular decision, you still have time. However, take note of the deadlines, but don’t wait until the last minute.
If you have already submitted your applications, make sure the colleges have also received your required documents. Colleges will not make a decision on your application unless they have all required documents, such as test scores, transcripts, and recommendations. If the items are still showing as missing, check on the status to ensure they are sent to the colleges in a timely manner.
While college brochures and websites share a lot of information, they cannot tell you how you will feel on campus. Therefore, it is important to visit the colleges you are considering. Fall is a great time to visit college campuses. College visits allow you to experience life as a student on the college campuses. In addition, you will be able to meet current students, professors, and other individuals associated with the institution. Here are some tips for your college visits:

No matter where you are in your educational career, apply for scholarships. The cost of a college education continues to grow and many colleges do not fulfill full financial need. Scholarships are a great way to help you pay for college. If you haven’t done so already, check out the November and December scholarship lists. I also have many other types of scholarship lists, such as scholarships sorted by grade/age level, majors, etc. Also, check out the new scholarship lists that have been added to JLV College Counseling this months:
In honor of Veteran’s Day on November 11, check out the list of scholarships for military personnel, veterans, and their dependents.
Scholarships are added to the database all the time. Check back often to find scholarships for you!
Have a great November! If you ever have any questions or think there is an article that could be helpful, send me a message. My goal is to help students and their parents as much as I can as they move through the college admissions and financial aid process.
