There are thousands of scholarships out there. Some are large scholarships that are well publicized, while others are lesser known. My goal is to share some lesser-known scholarships with my readers every Saturday.

Mexican-American Dream Scholarship
Sponsor: Council of Mexican Federations
Amount: Up to $1,000
Closing Date: September 30, 2016
Description: Scholarship is open to full-time students at four-year institutions or two-year community colleges who are considered undocumented or benefit from AB-540 or DACAC. Applicant must be attending school in one of the following California counties: Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, Inland Empire, or Ventura.

SHPE Google STEM Scholarship for Computer Majors
Sponsor: Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) Foundation
Amount: $2,500
Closing Date: October 1, 2016
Description: Scholarship is open to students attending a college or university in Fall 2016 who are computer science or computer engineering majors, or studying a closely related technical field.

JD Scholarship
Sponsor: SeiferFlatow Scholarship
Amount: $2,500
Closing Date: October 15, 2016
Description: Scholarship is open to current JD students who are attending law school full-time and are U.S. students. Applicant must submit a cover letter about why they care about the future of their future plaintiff’s personal injury/work comp along with a resume.

LULF Dream Scholarship
Sponsor: La Unidad Latina Foundation
Amount: Up to $1,000
Closing Date: October 15, 2016
Description: Scholarship is open to current undergraduate and graduate students who reside in the United States and have a least a 2.8 GPA. Applicant must be DACA qualified although applicant does not need to have applied or received DACA to be considered. Scholarship is open to all races and nationalities, but part of the application asks applicants what impact they have had on improving or supporting the Latino/Hispanic community.

LULF National Scholarship
Sponsor: La Unidad Latina Foundation
Amount: Up to $1,000
Closing Date: October 15, 2016
Description: Scholarship is open to current undergraduate and graduate students who reside in the United States and have a least a 2.8 GPA. Scholarship is open to all races and nationalities, but part of the application asks applicants what impact they have had on improving or supporting the Latino/Hispanic community.

Feelin’ Good Scholarship Slam
Sponsor: Power Poetry
Amount: $500
Closing Date: October 19, 2016
Description: Scholarship is open to students 25 years or younger who are current or former high school students who will attend or are attending college within the U.S. or its territories. There is no citizenship requirement, but student must have attended or is attending a high school in the U.S. Applicant must submit a poetry slam on the theme: “What makes you feel good?”

Greet the Day Scholarship Slam
Sponsor: Power Poetry
Amount: $500
Closing Date: October 19, 2016
Description: Scholarship is open to students 25 years or younger who are current or former high school students who will attend or is attending college within the U.S. or its territories. There is no citizenship requirement, but student must have attended or is attending a high school in the U.S. Applicant must submit a poetry slam on the theme: “what makes you get up and greet the day?”
