Do you like making a difference in your school or community? If you do, DoSomething has many campaigns to make a difference, and for participating, you will be entered to win a scholarship! Below are the campaigns with July 2016 deadlines.

Make Art to Stop Pollution
Scholarship Amount: $1,000
Deadline: July 18, 2016
About: Litter is dumped down street storm drains, polluting lakes and oceans.
How to enter: To remind others that pollution harms aquatic life, use chalk to write messages like, “Don’t dump: this drains to the ocean!” or draw sea creatures on storm drains in your neighborhood.

Context Clues
Scholarship Amount: $5,000
Deadline: July 31, 2016
About: If students don’t read over the summer, their reading skills can slip. That makes learning much harder when school starts again in the fall.
How to enter: Sign up to play a texting game where you’ll use your reading skills to crack the code of a mysterious locked box. By playing and sharing the game with friends, you can gain an entry for the scholarship.

Remind Your Friends Not to Text and Drive!
Scholarship Amount: $3,000
Deadline: July 31, 2016
About: Texting and driving is dangerous, but unfortunately people still do it.
How to enter: Make “Thumb socks” (yep, little coverings for your thumbs) to remind friends not to text and drive. DoSomething will give you easy instructions on how to make Thumbs Socks. Share the socks with friends and you’ll automatically be entered for the scholarship.

Share a Photo to Reduce Discrimination Online!
Scholarship Amount: $3,000
Deadline: July 31, 2016
About: In 2015 alone, rises in anti-refugee and anti-immigration hate speech contributed to a 14% increase in the number of hate groups across the United States.
How to enter: Post a selfie to reduce hate speech online. Just take a photo with a sign saying where your ancestors are from, like: “My family is from Jamaica.” That’ll show solidarity with immigrant groups, reduce anti-immigrant hate speech online, and you’ll automatically be entered to win a $3,000 scholarship.

Scholarship Amount: $2,000
Deadline: August 31, 2016
About: Asking someone to quit smoking is hard. We totally get that. We can help by giving you easy ways to start the conversation, facts to use during it, and ways to support a smoker in your life!
How to enter: Sign up at the link to get access to the resources and enter to win a $2,000 scholarship.

Prevent Texting and Driving!
Scholarship Amount: $1,000
Deadline: August 31, 2016
About: Texting while driving is dangerous. DoSomething knows it is hard to tell a friend to not text and drive.
How to enter: Sign up to get ideas on how to tell friends to not text and drive.

Smiles for Soldiers
Scholarship Amount: $5,000
Deadline: August 31, 2016
About: Beyond everything they do to keep us safe, military service members make the additional sacrifice of spending long periods of time away from family and friends. That means service member scan feel disconnected from the people and the comforts of home.
How to enter: Mail handmade cards to “A Million Thanks” and they will give your cards to military service members. Applicant can get one entry for every two cards sent to “A Million Thanks” with a total of five entries possible.

Power to the Period
Scholarship Amount: $5,000
Deadline: September 30, 2016
About: Many of the 3.5 million Americans who experience homelessness each year have extremely limited access to period products (pads, tampons, etc.). In fact, period products are some of the most needed items in homeless shelters across the country.
How to enter: Receive entries by sending unopened boxes of feminine care products to a local shelter – DoSomething will give you an address. Applicant can receive unlimited entries.

Eligibility Information

While there is no GPA, test score, or essay requirements, there are some eligibility requirements students must meet to enter any of the above scholarship opportunities:

  • US or Canadian citizens, regardless of residence OR reside in the U.S. or Canada.
  • 13 to 25 years of age.

The above scholarship contests are easy to enter and you’ll be making a difference. Check them out and participate before the deadline.

    • Hi Erika. Each scholarship is has different requirements. Therefore, if there is a scholarship you are interested in, go to the link for the scholarship and it will tell you exactly how to apply. Good luck!
