There are thousands of scholarships out there. Some are large scholarships that are well publicized, while others are lesser known. My goal is to share some lesser-known scholarships with my readers every Saturday.

Here are your scholarships for Saturday, February 6, 2016.

“Crash the Second Screen” Contest
Sponsor: Frito-Lay, Inc.
Amount: $50,000
Deadline: Feb. 7, 2016 (during the Super Bowl)
Description: Contest is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. Contestant must create and submit on Twitter original social content with the hashtags #Doritos and #entry. Entries can be a text tweets, images, or videos that do not exceed 15 seconds. Contestant must also follow Doritos on Twitter.

Accelerated Genetics Scholarship

Deadline: Feb. 15, 2016
Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors planning to major in agriculture at a short course vocational technical college or four-year university. Any high school senior who has participated in FFA, 4-H, any of the various breed organizations or any agriculture organization is eligible to apply.

AFA Teens for Alzheimer’s Awareness College Scholarship
Sponsor: Alzheimer’s Foundation of America
Amount: $5,000
Deadline: Feb. 15, 2016
Description: Applicant must be a high school student who will be entering an accredited four-year college or university within 12 months of the deadline. Applicant must submit an essay on a topic related to Alzheimer’s disease.

American Indian Services Scholarship

Deadline: Feb. 15, 2016
Description: Applicant must be one-quarter (1/4) Northern-Native American Indian and enrolled in a university, junior college, or technical school.

BMI Student Composer Awards
Sponsor: BMI Foundation, Inc.
Amount: Up to $5,000
Deadline: Feb. 15, 2016
Description: Award is open to citizens of a country in the Western Hemisphere who are enrolled in a college, conservatory of music, or the private study of music with an established teacher.

California Strawberry Scholarships

Amount: Up to $5,000
Deadline: Feb. 15, 2016
Description: Scholarships are open to students who have a parent that is currently employed as a California strawberry fieldworker for the current and previous two harvest seasons.

Church’s Chicken Community Scholarship Program

Amount: $1,000
Deadline: Feb. 15, 2016
Description: Applicant must live in one of the 18 states where Church’s Chicken does business, is a graduating high school senior, and have a 2.7 GPA.

Clark E. DeHaven Scholarships

Amount: $5,000
Deadline: Feb. 15, 2016
Description: Scholarship is open to students enrolled in a college or university that is a member of NACUPS. Applicant must be a current sophomore, junior, or senior planning a career in the food service industry, majoring in a food service-related field of study, and have at least one semester of school remaining.

Community Foundation of Louisville Scholarships

Description: Scholarships are open to students in the Louisville area. There are multiple scholarships available with different requirements. See website for details.

Continuing Education Scholarship

Deadline: Feb. 15, 2016
Description: Scholarship is open to VFW Auxiliary members, their spouses, or children to pursue a college degree or a career direction at a technical school.

GEICO Achievement Award

Deadline: Feb. 15, 2016
Description: Applicant must be enrolled full-time at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States with sophomore or junior status. Applicant must be majoring in business, computer science, mathematics or a related field and have demonstrated leadership on campus or within the community.

Goya Foods Culinary Arts Scholarship Program

Amount: $5,000
Deadline: Feb. 15, 2016
Description: Scholarship is open to incoming college freshmen who will be majoring in culinary arts or food sciences.

Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to graduating, minority high school seniors who plan on attending an accredited and approved four-year institution within the United States. Applicant must show leadership potential, dedication to community service, and evidence of financial need.

John Lennon Scholarship

Amount: Varies
Deadline: Feb. 15, 2016
Description: Applicant must be a current student or alumnus/alumna of a U.S. college or university who is between the ages of 17 and 24 at the time of submission. Applicant must submit an original song with lyrics accompanied by whatever instrumentation is chosen by the applicant.

LAF Scholarships

Description: Scholarships are open to students studying landscape architecture. Multiple scholarships available. See website for details.

Love Letters Scholarship

Description: Applicant must be 26 years of age or younger. Applicant must make homemade valentine’s cards for older adults and give to Meals on Wheels for delivery by Feb. 10, 2016. Student will receive one entry for the first card donated, and an additional entry for every additional three (3) cards donated.

NLA Foundation Scholarship

Description: Applicant must be an undergraduate student studying Computer Science, Aviation, Nursing or Music.

Description: Applicant must be a DREAMer who is DACA eligible and have applied for or received DACA approval. Applicant must be a first time college student and intend to attend a partner college (details available on website).
