There are thousands of scholarships out there. Some are large scholarships that are well publicized, while others are lesser known. My goal is to share some lesser-known scholarships with my readers every Saturday.

Description: Scholarship is open to current and potential college students. Applicant must submit an article on a given topic related to digital marketing.

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship
Sponsor: Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State
Amount: Varies
Deadline: October 6, 2015
Description: Scholarship is open to current undergraduate students who are receiving the Federal Pell Grant. Applicant must be applying to or has been accepted into a study abroad program or internship eligible for credit by the student’s academic institution.

AES Engineering Scholarship
Sponsor: AES Engineers
Amount: $500
Deadline: October 7, 2015
Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors and current college students. Applicant must submit an essay on a given topic related to a successful life. Scholarship is open to all majors.

Jan Egerton and Don Smitley Mesothelioma Scholarship
Sponsor: MesotheliomaHelp.org
Amount: Up to $2,500
Deadline: October 9, 2015
Description: Scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students who are 18 years of age or older and are currently enrolled in a college or university within the 50 United States or the District of Columbia. Applicant must submit an essay on a given topic related to Mesothelioma.

BEA Scholarship
Sponsor: Broadcast Education Association (BEA)
Amount: Up to $5,000
Deadline: October 13, 2015
Description: Scholarship is open to current college students enrolled in a BEA institution. All scholarships are awarded to juniors, seniors and graduate students at BEA Member institutions.

Zip Scanners College Scholarship
Sponsor: Zip Scanners
Amount: $500
Deadline: October 14, 2015
Description: Scholarship is open to current college students. Applicant must submit an essay on a given topic related to police scanners.

2015 National Rice Month Scholarship Program
Sponsor: USA Rice
Amount: Up to $4,000
Deadline: October 15, 2015
Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors (2015-2016 school year) in rice-growing states (Arkansas, California, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Texas). Applicant must make a U.S. grown rice the center of a promotion activity conducted in September.

Branson Shows Inspired Scholarship
Sponsor: Branson Show Tickets
Amount: $1,000
Deadline: October 15, 2015
Description: Scholarship is open to legal residents of the United States between the ages of 16 and 19, who are current students at any accredited educational institution or program of higher learning. High school students and homeschooled students who plan to enroll in college upon graduation are also encouraged to apply. Applicant must submit an essay on how a show inspired their dreams.

CIA Undergraduate Scholarship Program
Sponsor: Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)
Amount: Up to $18,000
Deadline: October 15, 2015
Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors or college freshmen and sophomores who are at least 18 years of age and U.S. citizens. Applicant must have financial need. Applicants selected for the program will complete work sessions during each summer break in Washington, D.C. If selected, student will be given an annual salary, benefits package and up to $18,000 per calendar year for tuition, mandatory fees, books and supplies.

CJ Pony Parts Scholarship Video Contest

Amount: $500
Deadline: October 15, 2015
Description: Scholarship is open to U.S. residents who are current students and will be enrolling in post-secondary education in their next semester. Applicant must submit a video that is under three minutes on one of several given topics.

Financial Growth for LGBTQ Scholarship
Sponsor: Johnson and Moo Entertainment Law Firm
Amount: $750
Deadline: October 15, 2015
Description: Scholarship is open to current college students who identify as LGBTQ. Applicant must submit an essay on a given prompt related to LinkedIn.

Future Engineers Scholarship Program
Sponsor: Kelley Services, Inc.
Amount: $5,000
Deadline: October 15, 2015
Description: Scholarship is open to full-time students at the time of application submittal, pursuing a degree at an accredited institution of higher education in the United States or Canada, and be accepted into the School of Engineering.

General Scholarship for Higher Learning

Amount: $1,500
Deadline: October 15, 2015
Description: Scholarship is open to legal residents of the United States who are at least 16 years of age and are enrolled in an accredited post-secondary academic institution in the United States. Applicant must answer a total of four questions.

Get Educated Online College Scholarship

Amount: $1,000
Deadline: October 15, 2015
Description: Scholarship is open to U.S. citizens enrolled in an accredited online program located in the USA with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Applicant must submit an essay on what an online college degree means to them.

Helicopter 2050 Challenge

Amount: $1,000
Deadline: October 15, 2015
Description: Scholarship is open to U.S. residents who are between the ages of 9 and 16 years of age. Applicant must share their vision or design for the helicopter of 2050.
