There are thousands of scholarships out there. Some are large scholarships that are well publicized, while others are lesser known. My goal is to share some lesser-known scholarships with my readers every Saturday.

Description: Scholarship is open to students currently enrolled in an accredited two or four-year public or private university who have an interest in the fields of energy or the environment.

Margaret W. Wong Scholarship

Amount: $500
Deadline: Jul. 17, 2015
Description: Applicant must be an international student (college/university student on a J1 or F1 visa) studying in the United States during the 2015-2016 academic year.

“From Failure to Promise” Essay Contest
Sponsor: Dr. C. Moorer and Associates
Amount: Up to $10,000
Deadline: Jul. 31, 2015
Description: Contest is open to high school seniors, undergraduate, and graduate-level college students with at least a 2.5 GPA. Applicant must answer three given prompts related to the book, “From Failure to Promise: 360 Degrees.”

AACN Partnership & Student Scholarship Program

Amount: $5,000
Deadline: Jul. 31, 2015
Description: Scholarship is open to students admitted or enrolled in a baccalaureate or higher degree nursing program at an AACN member institution with at least a 3.2 GPA.

Bud Siegfried Scholarship

Description: Applicant must be currently enrolled at a college or university in the United States. Applicant must submit an essay on how an injury attorney can make a difference in a situation and an essay about a service the student has performed in the last three weeks that has made a difference in the student’s life.

Design Thinking Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to students enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited two or four-year college or university in the United States. Applicant must submit an essay describing how they anticipate design thinking or design tools will impact them and their career choice.

Doctor on Demand Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to any student enrolled in a pre-med or health related field of study at at a four-year, accredited college or university for the fall of 2015. Applicant must submit an essay on a given topic related to why they want to enter the medical field.

Domestic Violence Law Firm Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to students currently attending an accredited university, or entering college in the fall of 2015. Applicant must submit an essay on how domestic violence has affected them.

Flavor of the Month Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to students 13 years of age or older who are legal residents of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia and are currently enrolled (or will enroll no later than the fall of 2021) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education. Applicant will need to submit a short response to a given prompt.

Description: Scholarship is open to high school Class of 2015 graduates who plan to enroll full-time in an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the United States, or current undergraduate students.
