There are thousands of scholarships out there. Some are large scholarships that are well publicized, while others are lesser known. My goal is to share some lesser-known scholarships with my readers every Saturday.

KSCPP’s 8th National Essay Contest
Sponsor: Korean Spirit and Culture Promotion Project (KSCPP)
Award Amount: Up to $500
Deadline: Jan. 4, 2015
Description: Contest is open to Middle School and High School students. To apply, applicant must read a book available on the KSCPP website and submit an essay on a given topic.

CAC Educational Scholarship Foundation Scholarship
Sponsor: California Association of Collectors (CAC) Educational Scholarship Foundation
Award Amount: Up to $2,500
Deadline: Jan. 5, 2015
Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors in California who are in the state legally. Applicant must attend college full-time within 12 months of the award and provide proof of enrollment in a minimum of 12 credit hours.

The First Tee Scholars Program

Award Amount: $2,500
Deadline: Jan. 8, 2015
Description: Applicant must be a graduating high school senior who is a junior golfer of The First Tee who excel in academics, leadership, character development, and chapter and community involvement.

Jeff Krosnoff Scholarship

Award Amount: $10,000
Deadline: Jan. 9, 2015
Description: Scholarship is open to four-year college bound California high school seniors with excellent academic achievement and outstanding community citizenship.

Professional BusinessWomen of California Academic Scholarships
Sponsor: Professional BusinessWomen of California (PBWC)
Award Amount: Varies
Deadline: Jan. 9, 2015
Description: Scholarship is open to women who are high school seniors in California. Applicant must submit a completed application, three letters of recommendation, and a personal essay related to leadership. If selected as a recipient of the scholarship, student must be present at the PBWC Annual Conference on March 10, 2015 in San Francisco (travel expenses not paid for my PBWC).

Disability Awareness Scholarship

Award Amount: $1,000
Deadline: Jan. 10, 2015
Description: Scholarship is open to students 17 years of age or older who are graduating high school seniors or current college students. Applicant must submit an essay about how they or someone they know has overcome disability to do something great.

Kappa Zeta Scholarships
Sponsor: Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
Award Amount: $1,000
Deadline: Jan. 16, 2015
Description: Applicant must be a female high school student in Dallas County, Texas planning to pursue post high school studies. Specific requirements for individual scholarships available on website.

Pride Foundation Scholarships
Sponsor: Pride Foundation
Award Amount: Varies
Deadline: Jan. 16, 2015
Description: Applicant must be a resident of the Northwest (Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, or Washington) and pursuing post-secondary education. Applicant must also be LGBTQ or a straight ally student leaders.

Truman D. Picard Scholarship
Sponsor: Intertribal Timber Council
Award Amount: Up to $2,500
Deadline: Jan. 16, 2015
Description: Applicant must be Native American or Native Alaskan and pursuing higher education in natural resources.

Woody Brittain – Education is the Equalizer Scholarship

Award Amount: $7,500
Deadline: Jan. 16, 2015
Description: Scholarship is open to African-American students in the 12th grade who plan on seeking a career in science, technology, or healthcare.

Mas Family Scholarships

Award Amount: $8,000
Deadline: Jan. 16, 2015
Description: Applicant must be of Cuban descent and demonstrate financial need, leadership ability, and potential to contribute to the advancement of a free society.

Google Lime Scholarship Program

Description: Applicant must be a current undergraduate or graduate student with a documented disability. Applicant must also be pursuing a degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a closely related technical field.

C-SPAN’s StudentCam Documentary Competition

Award Amount: Up to $5,00
Deadline: Jan. 20, 2015
Description: Competition is open to students in grades 6-12. Student must create a short documentary video on the theme “The Three Branches and You.”

Grandparents Gone Wired Scholarship

Award Amount: $10,000
Deadline: Jan. 20, 2015
Description: Scholarship is open to students 25 years or younger. Applicant gets one entry into the scholarship contest for every older person or technology they teach. Person taught does not need to be a grandparent.

Point Foundation Scholarship Program

Award Amount: $10,000
Deadline: Jan. 20, 2015
Description: Applicant must be a high school senior or current college student who is involved in the LGBTQ community (student does not need to self-identify with the LGBTQ community to qualify).

RMHC U.S. Charities Scholarship
Sponsor: Ronald McDonald House Charities
Award Amount: Up to $5,000
Deadline: Jan. 20, 2015
Description: Applicant must be a high school senior who resides within the geographical boundaries of a participating RMHC Chapter.

Bev Sellers Memorial Scholarship
Sponsor: Young Singers Foundation
Award Amount: $2,000
Deadline: Jan. 25, 2015
Description: Applicant must be entering sophomore year or above in an accredited college or university and pursuing a vocal music education

Wayne V. Black Memorial Scholarship
Sponsor: Energy Telecommunications and Electrical Association

Deadline: Jan. 26, 2015
Description: Applicant must be current undergraduate student working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Engineering Technology, Computer Science/MIS, Pre-law, Political Science, or Telecommunications/Information Technology.

Deadline: Jan. 27, 2015
Description: Applicant must be 13 years of age or older and currently enrolled in an American high school. Applicant must submit a short online form.

Google SVA Scholarship

Deadline: Jan. 27, 2015
Description: Applicant must be a student veteran or student on Active Duty who has received an honorable discharge or is currently in good standing with their branch of service. Applicant must also be pursuing a degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a close related technical field.
